We tested a red bondage kit in faux leather: the “Love Play Enjoy” kit.
Choosing a BDSM accessory is often even more difficult and personal than choosing a sex toy. Of course, you’ll consider how effective it is, but everyone’s tastes and fetishes will also play a big part.
However, if you want to try BDSM without necessarily being an everyday devotee of ropes and whips, you’ll generally prefer to have a fairly complete set at a reasonable price, so you can try out various things and see how it goes, without breaking the bank.
With the aim of finding just such a set to recommend to you, my attention was drawn to the red 8-piece “Love Play Enjoy” bondage kit in the Mon Espace Coquin shop’s catalogue: priced at under 60 euros, this set contains all the essential accessories for a first comprehensive exploration of the world of BDSM. But what’s the quality like? Is it good enough for an enjoyable introduction? That’s what we’re going to find out in this review.
Here’s our review of the red “Love Play Enjoy” bondage kit.
Packaging of the bondage kit
The packaging is simple and disposable, but makes a good first impression: it’s a black cardboard box, simply decorated with a pink heart and the words “Love Play Enjoy” repeated, with a clear plastic window on the front. Inside, the accessories are wrapped in plastic film, which wasn’t really necessary.
Contents
The bondage kit contains:
- A pair of wrist cuffs
- A pair of ankle cuffs
- A blindfold
- A gag
- A rope
- A collar
- A lead
- A flogger
- A cross-shaped bondage restraint
If you counted, you probably noticed that makes 9 accessories, even though the set is sold as an 8-piece bondage kit. All the better for us. The most likely explanation is that the collar and lead must have been counted together as one item.
The cuffs
There are, then, two pairs of cuffs: one for the wrists and one for the ankles. They’re made of faux leather, with a faux-fur lining, and are red all over. They have a buckle with four adjustment notches. Each pair also comes with a short chain fitted with two snap hooks, which lets you fasten the cuffs together.
The cuffs
The wrist cuffs have their first setting at 20 centimetres and their last at 27 centimetres. That doesn’t directly correspond to the circumference of the wrist being fastened: you have to allow for the thickness of the cuffs. On me, I can fasten them on the first notch, which is a bit too tight, while the second fits perfectly. On Him, they need to be adjusted to the second-last notch.
The ankle cuffs adjust between 25 and 31 centimetres.
The blindfold
This is also made of faux leather lined with red synthetic fur, and held in place by a red elasticated strap. The blindfold looks like a sleep mask for a peaceful nap on a plane… just a bit kinkier. It’s soft and fairly comfortable.
The gag
The ball gag is the least successful accessory in the set. Made of faux leather, with a metal ring on each side of the mouth, it looks quite nice, but its ball is made of hard plastic, which isn’t very comfortable to keep in your mouth. For a gag ball, it’s better to choose a slightly soft (and non-toxic) material, such as silicone, which you can bite down on if you want without risking an injury to your jaw. It is, however, hollow and has holes that let you keep breathing through your mouth while wearing it: cold-proof.
The ball gag
The rope
This isn’t a “traditional” bondage rope made of hemp or linen, but a 10-metre length of red cotton rope. Shibari purists will probably be disappointed, but for beginners trying bondage, soft cotton is a lovely option: it’s comfortable and less likely to leave marks.
The collar and lead
The collar is five centimetres wide, so it does take up a fair bit of space on your neck. It’s a bit restrictive, stopping you from lowering your chin all the way, and is also lined with faux fur. This is definitely a bondage accessory, not a collar you’d wear purely for aesthetic reasons.
The lead is red and fairly understated, and made of faux leather too.
The whip
The whip is a faux-leather flogger with 15 falls, each about 30 centimetres long. If you’re after pain, this isn’t the accessory for you: even if you really go for it, this thing doesn’t actually hurt, probably because its falls are so light. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially if you’re just starting out and are worried about hurting yourself or your partner. This is where the psychological side of the BDSM accessory comes in: it makes a cracking sound without leaving marks.
The cross-shaped restraint
The cross-shaped bondage restraint is the cutest item in the set, in my opinion. It’s rare to find an accessory like this in a low-cost bondage kit. And yet these four short straps with snap hooks, attached to a central ring, turn out to be really handy for fastening wrists and ankles together, behind your back or in front, by clipping each snap hook onto a cuff. It’s a small accessory that lets you be tied up simply and attractively.

Conclusion on the “Love Play Enjoy” bondage kit
The good points:
- This kit brings together a complete and varied set of pretty, functional bondage accessories at a very reasonable price (under 60 euros for 9 lovely matching accessories).
- The cuffs, collar and lead are both attractive and sturdy enough.
- A little favourite of mine is the cross-shaped restraint, which is super pretty.
The bad points:
- The gag is uncomfortable.
- This is still a kit “for beginners”: mind you, I’m not saying that experienced BDSM enthusiasts won’t find anything to enjoy here. It’s still a long way from the pink frilly handcuffs you get with a vibrating duck, but they may prefer to look for accessories that are a bit more “hardcore” or more sophisticated.
Overall, the “Love Play Enjoy” bondage kit is a collection of attractive accessories that are genuinely good for the price. It’s a very good choice for anyone who wants to get a complete set of accessories to start exploring BDSM together.
