We have tested the Icicles No. 28 dildo, by Pipedream.
This slightly curved pink glass dildo has a spiral structure on its surface.
We have already tested a glass sex toy (also pink) on this blog: the Luxotiq Lyssa. As its name suggests, the Luxotiq Lyssa is smooth. I wanted to know whether textured patterns in glass made a noticeable difference to the sensations.
If so, it probably depends on the pattern. So let’s see what the spiral delivers.
Packaging
The Icicles No. 28 dildo comes in a cardboard box, which shows photos of the sex toy, from the front and side. By pulling on a small white ribbon located on the side, you can lift the front of the box as if unfolding a book. This reveals a new side, made of black cardboard decorated with raised patterns, with a clear plastic window in the centre that lets you see the object.
You open the box from the top to remove the Icicles No. 28, set in a block of foam.
The packaging is sturdy, and effectively protects the object. However, the cardboard used to make the box is not very thick. It can’t really be considered a proper storage box. When choosing a box or case for it, don’t forget that it is made of a fragile material, and therefore opt for a padded container.
A bad surprise, nonetheless, at the bottom of the box: “Sold as a novelty only” (basically, “sold only as a novelty”). A (quite frequent) indication that would allow the brand to avoid certain checks, given that it isn’t specified at all that it is a sex toy (so what, isn’t it a flower pot ornament?).
The sex toy
Appearance
The sex toy appears to be one single piece, entirely made of transparent pink glass. No visible flaws on its surface, or inside. Note that the spiral has a few irregularities (smooth ones). It is made of blown glass, which means that two Icicles No. 28, compared carefully, will not be exactly identical.
Its base is wide and flat, and the spiral pattern runs along its surface.
At its tip, its “glans” or “button” (depending on whether you consider it more phallic or floral, it’s kind of halfway between the two) is wider than its spiralled shaft. Two shallow grooves form a discreet “V” pattern on it.
Dimensions
The Icicles No. 28 is 18 centimetres long, with a diameter of 3 centimetres (or rather 3.5 centimetres, if you take the thickness of its spirals into account).
The insertable part is 16.5 centimetres long. Its “glans” is 4 centimetres in diameter at its widest point, and 3.5 centimetres long.
This time, a marker steps in to serve as a size reference in the photo.
Texture and material
The Icicles No. 28 is made of glass. It therefore carries no risk of any chemical reaction when in contact with other materials, but it is sensitive to impacts. It’s best to avoid using it alongside another rigid sex toy.
It is, of course, completely rigid, and has a considerable weight. Its surface is smooth, but decorated with patterns that slow down slipping.
It withstands all kinds of sex toy cleaning products or soaps, and you can even put it in the dishwasher. That’s specified on the packaging… Or in the fridge, or in the microwave, to vary its temperature. No, but what an idea! Well, that’s also specified on the packaging…
Or, more simply, to play with temperatures, run it under hot or cold water, before use.
Use
Vaginal penetration
The Icicles No. 28 is curved. It is inserted by orienting its head so that it stimulates the “G-spot”. It should therefore point towards the navel.
Because of the patterns on its surface, you must absolutely use lubricant with the Icicles No. 28, otherwise it doesn’t slide. I used a little Rends Peace’s, and used the Icicles while simply fondling my clitoris with the other hand.
The sex toy is not very wide: its head, very smooth, goes in quite easily.
Then, the movements are slowed by the texture of the body of the Icicles No. 28. While its head stimulates the “G-spot”, you feel every little detail of the spirals. It’s an unusual sensation, but very pleasant. The result was several orgasms, achieved fairly quickly and rather intense.
Anal penetration
The wide base of the Icicles No. 28 dildo allows safe anal penetration. However, I did not try it.
In a harness?
Since the Icicles No. 28 dildo has a flat base, I wanted to see if it would fit in a harness, as a belt dildo. I tried to attach it to the Joque. But this use didn’t seem optimal.
Indeed, the sex toy is not held firmly enough to my taste. Its base is not wide enough to provide a stable enough support to hold its weight.
Conclusion on the Pipedream Icicles No. 28 dildo
The good points:
- Its look, original and aesthetically pleasing.
- The spirals create really great sensations. It makes me want to test other glass textures for comparison. Generally speaking, moreover, its shape is well designed, and it stimulates where it should.
- It’s not overpriced: around 60 euros.
The bad points:
- No proper storage box, which is a bit of a shame for a fragile sex toy.
Note finale du test
Les plus
- Good-looking
- Body-safe material
- Effective, provides unique sensations
Les moins
- Fragile sex toy...
- But no storage case or box is included.
- Fits poorly on a dildo belt
The only criticism I would make about the Icicles No. 28 dildo is that it doesn’t have a box that would let me keep it close to my bed without the risk of breaking it.
If you overlook its somewhat Spartan packaging, it’s an excellent sex toy, original both in terms of look and sensations, and very effective for vaginal stimulation.
