Test of Pjur Back Door Anal Lubricant

le

We tried the lubricant Pjur Back Door.

As its name suggests (in a rather graphic way, admittedly), this lubricant based on silicone and essential oils is intended for anal penetration.

The product

Chemical compatibility

The Pjur Back Door is compatible with condoms.
However, as it contains silicone, it can damage some silicone sex toys.

A while ago, we received a press release from Pjur, explaining that, following lab tests, certain silicone-based lubricants from the brand (Med Premium Glide, Original Bodyglide, Woman Bodyglide and Woman Toy Lube) had been guaranteed to be compatible with the We Vibe 3, the We Vibe 2 and the We Vibe Touch.

I don’t have the patience to leave sex toys soaking in lubricant for three months non-stop, so I won’t repeat the experience with the Pjur Back Door, but I did spread a few drops of it on the We Vibe Touch, just to see. No visible damage. But be careful, that proves nothing when it comes to long-term use. And if it actually turned out to be compatible with We Vibe brand sex toys, the Pjur Back Door wouldn’t necessarily get along well with silicone sex toys from other brands.

If in doubt, a condom can protect the sex toy. For sex toys made of glass, metal or wood, there’s no problem, of course.

(For the jelly, the cyberskin, softskin and other porous plastic materials whose composition is unspecified, it’s impossible to predict without testing. Surprise chemical reaction, it could make for a funny game on long winter evenings).

A priori, there are no contraindications to using silicone-based lubricants for vaginal penetration. But the Pjur Back Door leaflet says nothing about this. I tried it and didn’t note any particular issue.

Taste and smell

The Pjur Back Door is almost odourless (when sniffing at it persistently, a faint floral scent).

Its taste is subtle: to be honest, when I tasted it, I was mainly struck by its oily texture, which doesn’t seem really meant to be swallowed (or perhaps, for frying).

Appearance and texture

The Pjur Back Door is fairly liquid, and really very slippery, even in a very thin layer. It lubricates clearly more effectively than its water-based counterparts.

For anal penetration, I found this texture ideal.. Sex toys or penises glide in more easily, and it’s comfortable without having to use litres.

For vaginal penetration, I’m not a fan.. It does lubricate, admittedly, but the consistency, a bit too “greasy” for my taste, slightly bothers me when it comes to spreading it on my pussy. However, I won’t blame it for not being perfect for a use it isn’t intended for.

It doesn’t dry out, and stays on your fingers (and elsewhere) even long after use. Besides, when you wash it, it doesn’t rinse off at the first jet of water: you need soap to get rid of it.

Composition

The ingredient list is quite short: dimethicone and dimethiconol (these two compounds are silicones), oil of jojoba and oil of Nepalese sandalwood. This composition is a priori healthy for the body. None of its ingredients are listed as dangerous or dodgy.

Its presentation

Quantity / price ratio

The 100 mL bottle costs around twenty euros. Since the amount to use per application is quite small, it should last for a quite reasonable number of uses for its price.

Bottle

The bottle has a decent look, black and understated. It closes by screwing on its cap. It lets you dispense the right amount, which comes out of a small opening when you press on the sides of the tube held upside down without its cap.

Conclusion on the Pjur Back Door anal lube

Pjur Back Door anal lube bottleThe good points:

  • It lubricates very well, and doesn’t dry out.
  • Its odour and taste are very subtle.

The drawbacks (which are normal characteristics, common to all silicone-based lubricants):

  • Potential compatibility issues with silicone sex toys.
  • It is harder to clean up than a water-based lubricant.

This is the first silicone-based lubricant we have tested. I am therefore currently unable to determine where the Pjur Back Door stands compared with other silicone-based lubricants.

But compared with its water-based counterparts, the Pjur Back Door does indeed seem to be much more suitable for anal penetration. In short, it lubricates much more effectively. I found this product handy, pleasant to use. And I recommend it to anyone who wants to introduce a penis, fingers, or a glass, wooden, or metal sex toy into their twat.
