Womanizer Premium: a suction vibrator on autopilot

le

Released at the same time as the Classic model, the Womanizer Premium is a more sophisticated, but also more expensive, version of the famous clitoral vibrator.

The Womanizer Classic didn’t really get me excited. Apart from its looks, this stripped-back model doesn’t have much to offer… And visual appeal is one of the least important features of a sex toy.

In this review, let’s see whether the Womanizer Premium is more up to scratch.

Its official description also mentions an “Autopilot” mode, which promises to make you lose control of your pleasure. Put like that, it’s pretty vague, but we’ll find out exactly what it’s about.

As with the Classic, we received a Womanizer Premium for testing, without its packaging. So we won’t dwell on the packaging.

Just to note, it comes with a second head (two different sizes of head are supplied in total) and a satin storage pouch.

What the Womanizer Premium looks like

The Womanizer Premium comes in three colours: black, white or red. We received the red version.

The Womanizer Premium

I never thought I’d say this about a Womanizer, but it’s quite pretty. Its shape is slim and graceful, there’s no hint of bling, and the “medical accessory” look of the first Womanizers has completely disappeared.

There are three LEDs on the handle of the sex toy. They show the battery charge level, and also, when you’re in “Autopilot” mode, the selected intensity. But I’ll go into more detail a little later.

Texture and materials

The sex toy is entirely covered in medical-grade silicone. It’s firm but very soft, with a peach-skin feel.

As for its head, it’s made entirely of silicone, and is flexible.

Powering the Womanizer Premium

The Womanizer Premium is rechargeable and waterproof.

Its charger is similar in style to Fun Factory’s Click & Charge or the Satisfyer chargers. One end plugs into a USB port; the other has a tip with two little magnetic contacts that stick to two more contacts on the handle of the sex toy.

Controls and modes

The Womanizer Premium’s controls

The Womanizer Premium has four buttons:

  • A round button to switch the vibrator on and off.
  • Two “+” and “−” buttons to adjust the intensity of the vibrations.
  • A button marked with a sine wave to start Autopilot mode.

Standard modes

The vibrations come in twelve intensity levels. That gives you plenty of variation. There’s something to suit both sensitive clits wary of pulses that are too strong and fans of brutally powerful vibrations.

Autopilot mode

The “Autopilot” mode is the big innovation Womanizer has announced for its Premium model. But what exactly is it? No, the sex toy doesn’t double as a taxi, and you can’t ride home on a self-driving Womanizer after you orgasm.

It simply has a mode that automatically controls the gradual increase in vibration intensity, so you can use it hands-free while gradually getting yourself worked up.

Before letting go with Autopilot mode, you can set it up by choosing the maximum intensity it will reach. There are three possible levels. Pressing the “+” button lets you choose the “Autopilot” mode you want:

  • Very gentle: the intensity varies between levels 1 and 4, and the first LED lights up.
  • Medium: it varies between levels 1 and 8, and the middle LED lights up.
  • Or strong: the intensity gradually rises from level 1 to level 12.

Some people will probably like it, because the surprise of the vibrations getting stronger can be interesting.

Personally, though, I find that the vibration intensity doesn’t increase quickly enough. The intensity ramps up at regular intervals, rather than in response to any external factor.

If it adapted to the user’s reactions, that would be interesting! But as it is, Autopilot mode gives me time to get bored.

How the sex toy works

The Womanizer Premium works on the same principle as the earlier models and other suction vibrators. You place its head on your clitoris, where it delivers pulses without contact, along with a gentle suction.

Noise level

When placed on the clitoris, the Womanizer Premium has a noise level comparable to that of other suction vibrators.

However, one innovation makes it quieter: Smart Silence technology. What does that mean? Well, the sex toy has a sensor that lets it know when it’s no longer in contact with your clitoris, so it stops creating suction and pulsing for nothing. This avoids the irritating farting noise the device makes when it’s no longer in place, a flaw common to all suction vibrators.

Now, let’s not get carried away: the device doesn’t have a clitoris detector! Of course, it still vibrates against the skin of your thigh or the palm of your hand, which is only to be expected. It’s just a pressure sensor. But it’s worth noting that there are also a few genuine malfunctions. Sometimes, when it’s wet, the Womanizer Premium mistakes its own head for a clit and keeps vibrating (and farting) away into thin air.

How effective is the Womanizer Premium?

The Womanizer Premium is undeniably effective.

Personally, I prefer strong pulses. With a Womanizer-like toy, weak vibrations won’t get me over the edge. Its maximum power is higher than that of the other Womanizers and the Satisfyers. Only the Lelo Sona and Sona Cruise, whose mechanism and effect aren’t quite the same, beat it for intensity.

In short, with this sex toy, I reach orgasm quickly and effortlessly, the sensations are intense, and I can go again straight after coming.

And if you prefer very gentle pulses, this one will probably satisfy you too, because its lowest vibration setting is really, really gentle.

Conclusion on the Womanizer Premium

The good points:

  • The Womanizer Premium offers both very low and very high power levels. So it’ll suit the most sensitive clitorises as well as those with the most demanding tastes.
  • It has a nice look. A change from the “old-school” Womanizers and Satisfyers and their ear-thermometer look.
  • It’s made of silicone, which is very soft and body-safe.
  • Despite the occasional malfunction, the “Smart Silence” feature is pretty effective at reducing the noise of those untimely farts common to suction vibrators.

The bad points:

  • At around 180 euros, its price is very high. It’s a good sex toy, no question, and the quality is there… But it’s still a device made in China, which can’t have cost all that much to make.
  • The “Autopilot” mode that the Womanizer brand had been touting is a little disappointing. Some people will probably like it, but when it comes to automation, you could hope for more.

Overall, the Womanizer Premium is a good sex toy, fairly well designed, effective and pleasant to use. But its price is still too high, and the simultaneous release of the Womanizer Classic, which we could have done without, isn’t enough to justify such a price tag.
