The Lovehoney Colourplay dildo is a little sex toy that changes colour with temperature. Admittedly, it was this fun gimmicky feature that first made me want to try it.
But aside from this fun touch, it’s a small silicone dildo with a flat base that looks rather nice and comes at a very low price. In fact, it costs under 25 euros.
So here’s our review of the Lovehoney Colourplay dildo.
Sex toy packaging
When it comes to packaging, it’s very minimal. A cardboard box, which you throw away, and that’s it.
What the Lovehoney Colourplay dildo looks like
The Colourplay is a dark grey, slender, curved dildo, with a narrow tip and a flat base. At first glance, it looks pretty ordinary.
But the magic happens when you run it under hot water or use it. When you warm it up, it changes colour like a chameleon, turning pink.
The change isn’t very gradual: at the first splashes, I thought I’d stained it. You can create pretty patterns by playing with hot and cold. As soon as the sex toy cools down a little, it turns grey again.
At the base, there’s an opening where you can insert a mini vibrator, if you want to. It isn’t included.
Texture and materials
The dildo is made of pure silicone, so it’s body-safe and odourless.
It’s very flexible, but not “squishy”.
Using the Lovehoney Colourplay dildo
With its wide, flat base, the dildo can be used for vaginal or anal penetration, or worn in a harness.
Its narrow tip makes it easy to insert gradually. This sex toy allows for gentle penetration. You can adjust the diameter as you go, depending on how deep you want to penetrate.
In short, it’s a very simple but well-thought-out dildo, and pleasant to use.

Conclusion on the Lovehoney Colourplay dildo
The good points:
- It’s a sex toy that changes colour. This little extra may not have any practical use, but it’s fun, and sex is supposed to be playful above all.
- It’s very cheap: under 25 euros. I think it’s the cheapest dildo we’ve had the chance to test.
- It’s made of pure silicone, so it’s body-safe and odourless.
- Its flat-base shape makes it a multi-purpose sex toy, whether for vaginal or anal penetration, or for wearing in a harness.
The bad points:
- A slightly squishier texture might have been preferable. But then, for this price, you can’t really hold it against the dildo. Dildos with different densities, such as Vixen Creations sex toys or Doc Johnson’s Tru Curve, for example, are much more expensive.
- Its tip is a little narrow. That may be what you’re looking for. But at the advertised length of 18 centimetres, you might expect a wider toy.
