A book of erotic fiction featuring T-Rexes was nominated for the Hugo Awards, a famous American literary prize recognising the best works of science fiction or fantasy.
Indeed, through a strange turn of events, Stix Hiscock, author of the self-published Amazon erotic book “Alien Stripper Boned From Behind By the T-Rex”, which in French would be , “the alien stripper taken from behind by the T-Rex”, received a nomination for Best Novella.
But how did a story about space sodomite dinosaurs end up in the running for a literary prize?
How did an erotic book featuring T-Rexes end up at the Hugo Awards?
This surprising nomination was the result of a trolling attempt by a conservative political group. The movement is led by publishing house owner Theodore Beale, aka Vox Day.
Beale first tried to manipulate the Hugo Awards to get his chosen works elected. Almost all of them were published by him, oddly enough. To do this, he asked members of his group to sign up for the World Science Fiction Convention and vote for a predetermined list. But this manoeuvre failed.
So he decided to simply sabotage the Hugo Awards by helping absurd erotic books get nominated.
Last year, space raptors invading anuses at the Hugo Awards
That is how, last year, “Space Raptor Butt Invasion”, or “The Space Raptor’s Anal Invasion”, ended up in the running for Best Novella.
The author, Chuck Tingle, hadn’t asked to be dragged into this. But he took it all with a great deal of humour, and Beale made a fool of himself.
Chuck Tingle didn’t win the award, of course, but the event inspired him to write new books. And that’s how “Slammed in the butt by my Hugo Award nomination” and “Pounded in the butt by my Hugo Award nomination” came into being. A polite translation of both titles would be “Sodomised by my Hugo Awards nomination”.
