As its name suggests, the Pjur Toy Lube lubricant is specifically designed for use with sex toys.
In fact, it is a water-based lubricant, guaranteed to be compatible with latex, rubber, glass and silicone. So you can use it without risking a chemical reaction that could damage the sex toy.
It is also compatible with condoms.
Conversely, many silicone-based lubricants are likely to damage silicone sex toys.
Texture of Pjur Toy Lube
Its texture is creamy. It stays fairly compact where you’ve applied it and doesn’t spread out, which can be very handy in certain situations, for example, if you’re using it with a sex toy whose base isn’t perfectly sealed or is difficult to clean.
Taste and smell
Pjur Toy Lube is odour-free and doesn’t really have a taste.
You don’t get that sweet taste, sometimes a bit cloying, that you find, for example, in the unflavoured lubricants from brands like Durex or Manix. On the other hand, when you taste a tiny bit of lubricant, outside of a sexual context, just to see what it tastes like, I can guarantee you’ll feel a bit daft!
Composition
The composition of Pjur Toy Lube lists:
- Water,
- Dimethicone,
- Dimethiconol,
- Carboner,
- Sodium Hydroxide,
- Propylene Glycol,
- Benzyl Alcohol,
- Methychloroisothiazolinore,
- Methylisoathizolinone.
According to Que Choisir, which publishes information about this product in its comparison of toxic substances in cosmetics, three of these substances should be avoided:
- Benzyl Alcohol, an irritating and allergenic preservative.
- Methychloroisothiazolinore and Methylisoathizolinone: brought back into vogue to replace parabens, these two preservatives are extremely allergenic. Edit (2018): these two substances have been banned in no-rinse products since February 2017.
