The now-famous Womanizer, a clitoral suction toy, is no longer the only one of its kind. Gradually, other vibrators combining micro-pulsations and a suction effect on the clitoris are appearing.
My anatomy seems less receptive to suction vibrators than average.
Many women say they reach seventh heaven every time with the Womanizer, including the W100, and many consider it the Holy Grail of sex toys.
As for me, I have much more mixed feelings about this type of sex toy. For me, its effectiveness naturally depends on the model, but also on the position and the context in which I use it. So I’m going to compare these vibrators with a little more perspective.
The first one I tried was the Fontaine de Jouvence, from the brand Noire Fontaine. This clitoral suction toy, whose name could belong to a miraculous anti-wrinkle cream, isn’t the only one I’m going to tell you about.
Next up will be the many variations of the Satisfyer. But one thing at a time.
Here’s the review of the Fontaine de Jouvence.
Packaging
The Fontaine de Jouvence box, black and red, is made of thick, sturdy cardboard and lined with foam. It’s pretty. A nice presentation is a good start.
Beneath the foam are a user manual, a charging cable and a satin storage pouch.
The sex toy
Appearance
Let’s face it: the Fontaine de Jouvence isn’t a work of art.
Well, it’s much less ugly than the Womanizer W100, so that’s something. But it’s hardly an achievement.
It looks less like an ear thermometer (though still a little) and more like a showerhead. Its handle, which you hold onto, narrows before opening out into a pear-shaped head. There’s an opening at the front of the head, which you place over the clitoris. Seen from the front, it looks like a funny little man with a startled expression; I almost want to draw tiny eyes on it.

Apart from its appearance, two major differences from the Womanizer are already apparent:
- There’s no interchangeable clitoral tip. One size fits all when it comes to the clitoris.
- The opening into which you insert the clitoris is smaller than the Womanizer’s.
The bottom of the handle is black, while the rest is pink. The Fontaine de Jouvence is also available in a half-black, half-gray version.
Texture and materials
The Fontaine de Jouvence is covered entirely in silicone. It’s rigid, with a slightly peach-skin texture.
Power supply
The cable for recharging the Fontaine de Jouvence plugs into a USB port and has a proprietary connector on the sex toy end.
This very thin connector plugs into a tiny port in the center of the handle. I really don’t like this charger: it’s loose, and, above all, has a bad connection that makes it a pain to use. Getting the device connected properly so it can charge is a balancing act. Perhaps we were unlucky and got a particularly poorly assembled unit, but other testers have also mentioned connection problems…
When you spend around a hundred euros on a sex toy, a charger that works without a struggle should be the bare minimum. A micro-USB connector like the Womanizer’s would have been so much more practical!

I didn’t time how long it took to charge or how long the vibrator could run once charged, but nothing seemed unusual in that respect.
When you read “Fontaine de Jouvence,” you tend to think “water in abundance”… But paradoxically, our fountain is not waterproof. In any case, the Womanizer isn’t waterproof either, so there’s no difference on that front.
But that, along with the lack of an interchangeable tip, makes cleaning more complicated after use. You’ll need to be careful with the water and perhaps use a cotton swab to apply soapy water or cleaning product more effectively.
Using the Fontaine de Jouvence
Controls
The Fontaine de Jouvence has ten pulsation intensities.
The controls consist of two buttons: a power button and a “+” button. You might think that with so few buttons, things would have to be simple. But that’s not quite the case.

Let’s take a closer look at how the controls work.
What’s okay
The power button can switch the sex toy on (short press) or switch it off (long press). So far, so normal. To increase the intensity, you press the “+” button. Still logical.
If you switch the vibrator off and then turn it back on, it returns to the intensity level you left it on. That’s pretty nice.
The annoying part
But once you reach the tenth intensity level, if you accidentally press “+” again, everything stops. Just like that: you were about to get carried away, the pleasure was gradually building, and then suddenly, nothing. It rather ruins the whole thing.
There are two ways to avoid this mishap.
- The first is to select the strongest vibration mode before you get caught up in the moment, then not change it.
- The second is to count, so you always know exactly which mode you’re on and never go past the tenth. Put like that, it sounds simple: everyone knows how to count to ten. But excitement doesn’t make you very sharp, and having to focus on technical details during sex completely ruins the mood. Try reciting your times tables while masturbating and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
And finally, to lower the intensity, since there’s no “-” button, you press the power button again. It’s not a disaster, but it’s not especially intuitive either.
In short, it works, certainly, but ergonomically, it’s not ideal.
How it works: a clitoral suction sex toy
The Fontaine de Jouvence works on the same principle as the Womanizer. It’s a clitoral suction sex toy. You place the opening in its “head” over the clitoris, inserting the clitoris into it and leaving as little space as possible between the skin and the edges of the suction area.
The sex toy then envelops the clitoris (or rather, the external part of this organ) and applies two things at once:
- “Pulsations,” which are a kind of highly localized vibration,
- as well as a slight suction.

Noise level
The Fontaine de Jouvence is much quieter than the Womanizer. That’s a real plus, because nobody wants to hear what sounds like one long fart as background noise while masturbating.
Effectiveness
Suction
As far as suction goes, the Fontaine de Jouvence seems to do pretty much the same job as the Womanizer.
Pulsations
When it comes to the strength of the pulsations, though, that’s another story. I can’t give you any precise measurements, but its “pulsations” seem much weaker. In any case, I feel their effect less.
A problem with the opening being too small
For me, another factor makes it less effective than the Womanizer: the sex toy’s opening is smaller and angled.
My clitoris is an entirely ordinary size, I should point out. However, clitoral stimulation works much better for me if the surrounding areas (especially the area above my clitoris) are involved too. That’s not the case here: the stimulation is extremely localized on the clitoris, with nothing around it.
From the other reviews of this sex toy that I’ve read, it seems that, depending on one’s anatomy, this drawback isn’t necessarily a problem. But for me, the stimulation is a little less intense.

Another downside of this tiny sex-toy opening: it’s hard to imagine using it with a partner when things get a bit vigorous. Even with the Womanizer, you have to aim carefully and hold the device firmly during sex so it doesn’t stop doing its job. With this one, it’s best not to move too much, or you’ll lose the precise positioning over the clitoris (and using it in the dark is out of the question).
It’s the same as with the Womanizer W500: for the Fontaine de Jouvence to work for me all the way to orgasm, I have to stand up—which, incidentally, makes me look a bit silly.

The sensations
Apart from the slightly lower intensity, which means it takes a little longer to reach orgasm, the sensations are broadly similar to those provided by the Womanizer.
Although the vibrator doesn’t do any licking, it brings to mind that moment during cunnilingus when you feel you’re close to orgasm. After a brief moment of hesitation, when I think, “Well, it’s almost powerful enough, but not quite; this isn’t going to do the trick,” pleasure eventually sneaks up on me…
And I can start again, almost indefinitely, because unlike a “classic” vibrator, there’s no friction, and therefore no irritation of the clitoris.
Conclusion on the Fontaine de Jouvence clitoral suction toy
The good points:
- The sensations are similar to those provided by the Womanizer.
- The Fontaine de Jouvence is a little cheaper than the Womanizer.
- It’s a little less ugly than the Womanizer.
The bad points:
- Like the first Womanizer, it’s not waterproof, and the lack of an interchangeable tip makes it harder to clean.
- Its smaller opening makes it less effective (at least for me) and restricts movement.
- Its controls are not practical.
- Its charger is even less practical.
The Fontaine de Jouvence has an effect fairly similar to that of the Womanizer, but not as good, and its ergonomic flaws seriously detract from the pleasure of using it.
The lower price is a plus, certainly, but it’s far from what you could call “cheap”. There are simply too many drawbacks for the price difference to be worthwhile.
If you want to buy a Womanizer-like toy, you’d be better off choosing the original model or one of the Satisfyer.
