Review of the Intimate Organics Melt Cinnamon Warming Lubricant

le

Stimulating products with a warming effect have an annoying tendency to all resemble one another: their active ingredient being, almost systematically, menthol, the effects are often quite similar from one product to another.

The cinnamon bark-based Melt lubricant from Intimate Organics caught my attention because, unusually for a warming lubricant, there isn’t a shred of menthol in it.

In addition, its composition seemed fairly clean: no parabens or other notable dodgy ingredients.

The product

Chemical compatibility

The Melt warming lubricant is water-based and is therefore compatible with condoms and sex toys.

Taste and smell

A honey taste is advertised in the product description. But honestly, we know very well that there’s a huge gap between the flavours described on lubricant packaging and their actual aroma in practice.

Let’s have a taste, to see. I pour a drop onto the back of my hand and lick it. At first, a very sweet taste, not bad, which warms the tongue, then a small rather unpleasant soap aftertaste. Not exactly yummy. In the heat of the moment, it can get by, but it’s clearly not meant to be savoured.

On the other hand, it has a very credible, good honey smell.

Appearance and texture

The Melt lubricant is transparent and rather liquid, its texture is the same as that of the very classic Durex Play.

Warming effect

Although it lubricates properly, because of its warming properties, I preferred to use the cinnamon Melt lubricant on my clit rather than for penetration.

The warming effect is noticeable while remaining fairly mild: it warms a little, gently. You don’t get the “Hollywood chewing gum” effect characteristic of mentholated substances.

Like its mentholated counterparts, it doesn’t really speed up orgasm, but it increases the intensity of the sensations when I apply a little to my clit before masturbating.

Composition

The Melt lubricant does not contain parabens.

It is also stated that it does not contain DEA (or diethanolamine, a toxic, corrosive product – some lubricants specify that they do not contain it, but it is difficult to find information about those that might contain it. Well, in any case, here, there isn’t any).

On the other hand, it contains plant-based glycerine among its ingredients. This sugar derivative, present in many water-based lubricants, is not inherently harmful, but is not recommended for people who frequently experience minor intimate infection problems.

Apart from water, alcohol, glycerine and propylene glycol (an emulsifier present in most water-based lubricants and in food), all the other components are plant extracts: cinnamon, ginger, goji berry, lemongrass (or something that resembles it, whose scientific name is cymbopogon schoenanthus – this is the most plausible translation I could find) and aloe vera.

Its packaging

Quantity / price ratio

The small bottle (60 mL) costs €10.50, while the large bottle (240 mL) costs €21.90. That’s about twice as expensive as ordinary supermarket lubricant (Durex or Manix), which is still reasonable for a more original product.

Bottle

The bottle is ultra-classic. It has a pour spout, which closes after use.

Conclusion

The good points:

  • It is milder than menthol-based counterparts.
  • It smells good.
  • It contains no dodgy chemicals.

The bad points:

  • The soap aftertaste.

Overall, I liked the Intimate Organics Melt cinnamon warming lubricant.

The warming sensation it provides, milder than with a menthol-based warming lubricant, seems more natural, and is a change from the “hot-cold” effects you’re used to encountering. It doesn’t irritate, and its composition inspires confidence. The only drawback is its taste, which somewhat spoils the desire to combine it with oral sex.
