The Cobeco Nori lubricant gel can be used as a sexual lubricant, or poured and spread over the body during a Nuru massage.
Nuru with nori, now that sounds funny…
Nori is that dark green seaweed wrapped around maki rolls… A seaweed-based lubricant? Intrigued, we were quick to try it out.
Here’s our review of the Nori lubricant by Cobeco.
The bottle
The lubricant comes in a 150 mL bottle.
The bottle seals tightly with a clip-on lid. A second cap covers the lot, preventing any accidental spillage of lubricant.
Taste and scent of Nori lubricant
“Tasteless and odourless”, the product description on the bottle tells us…
And, for once, it’s true: there’s no scent at all, and the taste is very neutral. Just as well, because I think I’d have given sushi-flavoured lubricant a miss.
Appearance and texture
Nori lubricant is transparent, and its texture, it has to be said, is a little reminiscent of saliva… It’s very runny, and particularly slimy.
Ingredients
The list of ingredients is as follows: Aqua, Sodium polyacrylate, Glycerin, Seaweed extract, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.
Let’s translate this somewhat barbarous list:
- water, as expected.
- sodium polyacrylate: I’ve already talked about it in detail in my review of Rends Peace’s lubricant. To sum up, it’s a substance that absorbs water and is apparently harmless here.
- glycerine: best avoided if you’re prone to frequent vaginal infections.
- seaweed extract, as promised by the lubricant’s name. It’s worth noting, though, that according to the INCI standard, a product’s ingredients are listed in descending order by quantity. So Nori lubricant contains less seaweed extract than sodium polyacrylate or glycerine.
- The last two substances, with their unpronounceable names, are preservatives, listed as allergens.
Use
As we didn’t have a suitable place to play for massages where you spread viscous stuff from your eyebrows to your toes, we gave up trying the Nori gel for Nuru massages and settled for using it as a regular lubricant.
At first, the lubrication is pretty good: it’s very runny, so you end up pouring it all over the place (even) by accident, but it glides nicely.
On the other hand, the product dries quickly, so you have to reapply it regularly.
Conclusion on Cobeco Nori lubricant
The good points:
- No smell
- No taste
- Effective lubrication at first
The bad points:
- Short-lasting lubrication
- Very runny, so it gets everywhere
The Cobeco Nori lubricant has a relatively healthy formula, and I found it pleasant to use.
The lubrication is effective, although short-lived. The fact that it has no taste or smell is a very welcome bonus.
