The shop Passage du Désir sent us their special sex toy lubricant. It is a water-based lubricant gel, designed to be compatible with sex toys.
Let’s take a look at it in this review.
The bottle
The bottle is quite small, but practical. It’s only 80 millilitres.
However, equipped with a spray nozzle, it allows you to aim precisely, and not waste a single drop of the product.
Appearance and texture
The lubricant has a rather thick. However, it spreads easily. It is colourless and transparent.
Taste and smell
The taste and the smell are very subtle, you barely notice them. For a lubricant, this is generally what you’d want (unless you’re looking for a flavoured lubricant).
Composition of Passage du Désir’s special sex toy lubricant
The product’s composition lists:
- Aqua : water.
- Hydroxyethylcellulose : a gelling agent and thickener derived from cellulose, often used in cosmetics, and a priori harmless.
- Citric acid : citric acid, to balance the pH.
- Gycerin : glycerine, a substance that is non-toxic, but which is derived from sugar. This can be problematic for people prone to yeast infections, as glycerine, which yeast feed on, can disrupt the vaginal flora.
- Potassium sorbate : a food additive used as a preservative.
- Sodium benzoate : a preservative food-grade.
Using Passage du Désir’s special sex toy lubricant
I tried this lubricant with the Magic Touch and the Däo. In practice, I wouldn’t spend hours describing how to use it. It’s a standard water-based lubricant, but perfectly fine, that does what you’d expect of it. It doesn’t run, and lasts long enough, no need to reapply every three minutes. I particularly liked the spray bottle, very handy for not getting it all over your fingers or on the sheets. When I use a sex toy, I want to be able to lubricate only the area that will be in contact with my intimate parts, without making the controls sticky.

The good points:
- It’s a water-based lubricant, perfectly fine, that slides well enough and lasts a long time.
- Its spray bottle so you don’t get it all over the place and don’t waste any of it.
- It’s not very expensive : less than €7 per bottle.
The downsides:
- It contains glycerine.
