Among my many sextos, the Doxy Die Cast is the one that keeps me company most often at the side of my bed. And for good reason: it’s a proper lazy person’s sextoy, allowing you to string orgasms together with absolutely no effort! When I found out that its brand had released a rechargeable version, the Doxy Die Cast 3R, I immediately wanted to give it a go.
Is the Doxy Die Cast 3R the clitoris’s best friend? That’s what we’re about to find out in this review.
Sextoy packaging
When it comes to packaging, Doxy doesn’t do things by halves.
First of all, a lovely thick cardboard box, which isn’t really all that surprising for a vibrato that sits firmly in the luxury sextoy bracket.
But then… Then… What the… ? What on earth is this thing? Well, it’s a proper case! Cylindrical, in brushed aluminium, it holds the sextoy and its charging cable. Now, it might be a bit heavy, not exactly the ideal solution for transport, but it’s a beast! You can say for certain that the sextoy will be safe and sound inside. And in terms of presentation, it’s bloody smart.
Doxy Die Cast 3R look
The Doxy Die Cast 3R is smaller than the Die Cast, but it looks dead rattle like its little brother, the Doxy Number 3… With the exception that its cable is detachable, since this is the rechargeable variant. Only the colours differ. The sample we received is matte black, but it’s also available in glossy purple.
Even if it’s not as big as the Doxy Die Cast that started it all, the Doxy Die Cast 3R is still a fairly chunky vibrato. It’s not insertable, so it’s only the question of its transport that interests us here. Let’s just say that taking it on holiday is totally doable, but you’re not going to be lugging it around in your handbag every day, unless you happen to be Mary Poppins.

The head of the sextoy unscrews, which makes cleaning it easier.
Texture and materials
The head of the Doxy Die Cast 3R, which is (presumably) the only part of the sextoy that will come into contact with your intimate areas, is covered in silicone. It therefore poses no health risks, no dodgy smells, and no risk of bacteria building up as long as you clean it properly, silicone being non-porous.

Like those of the Die Cast or the Number 3, the handle of the device is made of metal. In short: it’s built like a tank, but it also prevents the vibrations from being lost in your fingers instead of being focused on your erogenous zones.
Doxy Die Cast 3R power supply
The charging cable for the Doxy Die Cast 3R is found in the top section of its imposing case. It plugs into a USB port, and on the sextoy side, into a port located at the end of the handle.
Even the cable looks solid; with its thick connector, it stands in contrast to the ultra-thin jack plugs found on many cheap sextos, which can easily snap if you’re not careful.
Note that, although rechargeable, the Doxy Die Cast 3R is not waterproof!
As for charging and usage times, we didn’t time anything, but we didn’t notice anything problematic either.
Controls and modes
One of the features of the Doxys that I really like is that their controls don’t overcomplicate things. They are simple and clear. There aren’t eight billion useless modes to get lost in, nor any convoluted combinations to remember in order to get the desired effect.
Three big buttons, well raised, easy to find with your fingertips, even in the heat of the moment: on (or off), vibrate stronger, vibrate weaker. That’s it, and it’s perfect just like that.

Oh right, there’s also a “hidden” pulsing mode, accessible by pressing and holding the on button. Personally, I don’t use this mode, but it’s almost never happened that I’ve stumbled upon it by accident during a fumbled operation, so my opinion on the matter is absolutely neutral.
Using the Doxy Die Cast 3R
Now, let’s nuance my enthusiasm from the start of this review a little: the Doxy Die Cast 3R is still not quite as powerful as the Die Cast or the Number 3, one could have expected that… But it still packs a proper punch! The legendary Fairy Lithium, for example, can’t keep up with it. And if you compare it to newer devices, like the Wand by We Vibe or the Lelo Smart Wand 2, it wins the contest by a mile (or cable high?). In short, in the rechargeable vibrato category, it shatters the power record.
The vibrations penetrate deep, perhaps just a little less than those of its corded cousins, but it’s still on the same scale. Express orgasms, repeat at will.

Conclusion on the Doxy Die Cast 3R
The good points:
- The Doxy Die Cast 3R is super mega powerful, it’s genuinely impressive for a rechargeable vibrato.
- In terms of quality, everything is top-notch: the sextoy seems mega solid, its finish is impeccable, and its storage case is… I’m at a loss for words to describe it, but it’s original and classy.
- Its controls are simple, intuitive and practical.
The bad points:
- It’s not waterproof: for orgasms in the shower or the bath, you’ll have to do without it.
- Its price is quite high: close to €170. In return, the quality is up to scratch, but it won’t be within everyone’s budget.
