We’ve tested the Lelo Mia. This sex toy, the smallest vibrator made by the well-known Swedish brand, recharges via a computer’s USB port.
This pretty little clitoral vibrator is therefore an ideal candidate for landing in a handbag, as a “portable” sex toy.
But first, let’s see if it deserves its place in your handbag. Is it effective? Is it practical?
In an attempt to answer these questions, let’s examine it more closely.
Sex toy packaging
The Mia’s packaging is the one usually seen with LELO pleasure products.
But in miniature form. It really does seem tiny next to the box of the Smart Wand Large, which one would think is its zoomed-in clone.
The sex toy does indeed come in a small cardboard case.
It comes with a satin case.
Once stowed in its case, the LELO Mia really doesn’t take up any space. You can easily slip it into a handbag, or even a pocket.
The Lelo Mia’s look
The LELO Mia is described as being inspired by “the refined appearance of a lipstick stick”.
It is, however, a bit bigger. It measures 11 centimetres long, for 2 centimetres in diameter, which still makes for quite a large lipstick.
Except for this detail, it really does resemble a slightly zoomed-in lipstick stick. As for resemblance, a stick foundation would be the most plausible look-alike.
OK, if you look at the object too closely, you quickly realise it’s not a make-up accessory. But it’s still discreet nonetheless. No need to worry if you spot it in your make-up bag.

Power supply of the Lelo Mia
The LELO Mia recharges via a USB port. You can plug it directly into a computer, like a USB stick, but an extension lead (of quite good quality, incidentally) is also provided.
If you have a smartphone charger with a detachable USB cable, it will also be possible to easily get a LELO Mia mains charger by plugging the USB extension lead into the “mains plug” part of the smartphone charger.
Charging takes one hour, for 90 minutes of runtime on a charge. I didn’t check by timing it, but, on a rough guess, these times (stated on the manufacturer’s website) seem realistic.
It should be noted that it is not a USB stick as such. It cannot store data.
I tried to find out whether any sex toys double up as storage devices. The only one I could track down is the Crave Duet, in its luxury version only (the standard version doesn’t store data), which isn’t in the same price range, with 200 dollars and then some for 8GB (so a capacity that wouldn’t even break three legs off a vibrating duck).
I’ll therefore deduce that the miracle mutant doesn’t exist yet, and that for the time being, it’s best to keep the USB stick and the USB sex toy separate.
Controls and modes
The LELO Mia has two buttons: “+” and “-“.
You switch on the sex toy by pressing and holding the “+” button. You’re then in the weakest “classic” vibration mode. You increase or decrease the vibration intensity with the “+” and “-” buttons.
Pressing and holding “+” switches to pulsations. From there, you cycle through the three pulsation modes by pressing and holding “+”, and you return to classic vibrations by pressing and holding “-“.
I have a preference for the constant mode. That’s often the case (with most vibrators, in fact): the “fancy” modes are fun, but constant vibrations (powerful ones, if possible) remain the surest way to reach orgasm, in my opinion.
Effectiveness of the Lelo Mia
The LELO Mia is too small for vaginal stimulation. It’s not waterproof, so if you insert it, you risk struggling to wash it (although in my opinion, if you’re careful not to submerge it, you’re unlikely to mess it up that way: the joints do seem properly watertight).
The LELO Mia is admittedly less powerful than its cousins the INA 2 and the Smart Wand. But for a vibrator of this size, it’s surprisingly powerful. Compared with the Mia, among the “pocket” vibrators I’ve been lucky enough to see up close, the only ones that keep up in terms of power are the Touch and the Tango by We-Vibe. It’s even a bit more powerful than the Touch.
More specifically, you should allow (at least, for me) an average of two or three minutes for an orgasm with this sex toy.
Its small size makes it very practical to use with a partner: in any situation, you can handle it easily, without it becoming too bulky, particularly during penetration.
Conclusion on the Lelo Mia
The good points:
- It can recharge on a standard USB port, with an ordinary USB extension lead, but also without one. As long as you have a computer nearby, there’s no risk of losing the charger.
- It’s very small, genuinely portable, and very powerful for its size.
The bad points:
I didn’t really find any “bad points” with the LELO Mia.
Admittedly, it could still be improved. For example, by becoming fully waterproof, or with even more powerful vibrations. Or even by turning it into a “real” USB stick capable of storing data.
