The Lelo Sona Cruise 2, the successor to the Sona Cruise, is finally out.
The Sona Cruise was already a real banger, with its “sonic pulsations” capable of waking up even the sleepiest of clitorises. So I was keen to see what the upgraded version of Lelo’s clitoral stimulator looked like.
Here’s our review of the Lelo Sona Cruise 2.
Sex toy packaging
Nothing new on the packaging front. It’s a simple cardboard box, with a plastic window that shows the sex toy.
Inside this box, you’ll find the sex toy’s charging cable, a warranty card, a satin storage pouch, and a sample of lubricant.
Look of the Lelo Sona Cruise 2
The Sona Cruise 2 looks almost identical to the Sona and the Sona Cruise of the original namesake. Only the shape of its tip differs. And even then, you’d need to look at the two stimulators side by side to spot the subtle difference.
Unlike those of the Womanizer and the Satisfyer, it’s an integral part of the stimulator and isn’t interchangeable.
The sex toy comes in three colours: black, purple and fuchsia.

Texture and materials
The front of the sex toy, along with its tip, is made of pure silicone, while its back is covered with a gold-plated ABS plastic plate.
Its tip is a bit softer than those of the previous models. Apart from this detail, which isn’t insignificant, and the shape of the gold plate, which we don’t really care about, there are no other real changes.
Powering the Lelo Sona Cruise 2
The stimulator is rechargeable.
Its cable has a proprietary connector on the sex toy end, and USB on the other end. It’s the same as the one used on other Lelo sex toys.
Controls and modes
The Sona Cruise had eight modes and eight intensity levels, and its second version has twelve of each.
Did we really need extra “fancy” modes? Not really: generally, you mainly focus on the constant mode, and quickly forget about the others.
On the other hand, the four extra intensity levels are welcome.
It starts off gentler, whereas the first Sona was a bit abrupt at the start, and the transition from one speed to the next is seamless.
As for the controls, they’re the same as the Sona’s:
- A double-arrow button. This one turns the sex toy on or off with long presses. And switches to the next vibration mode with short presses.
- Two “+” and “-” buttons, which allow you to adjust the power of the stimulator’s “sonic pulsations”

As with its predecessor, the machine’s “Cruise Control” kicks in without any manual intervention. Indeed, when in the heat of the moment, you press the vibrator a bit too hard against the clit, the motors of traditional sex toys, under mechanical strain, struggle to keep up the pace. They “get winded” a bit, so to speak.
When this is about to happen, the “Cruise Control” detects it automatically and kicks in with a power boost, which revs up the motor and allows it to maintain the desired intensity.
Effectiveness of the Lelo Sona Cruise 2
I couldn’t say for certain whether the maximum level of the Sona Cruise 2 is more powerful than that of the first Sona Cruise. The sensation is different, thanks to the softer tip, which is gentler against the clit.
So I’d tend to say that the sonic pulsations are indeed more powerful, but that the tip dampens them. Which is much better.
Indeed, although devastatingly effective, the Sona Cruise tended to be a bit rough on the clit, with a rather brutal start even at minimum intensity, and a steeper power ramp-up.
Here, it starts off more gently, and you increase gradually. You can, if you wish, take your time to build up the pleasure slowly. And at maximum intensity, the sensations are just as delicious and intense.
But, with the clitoris being treated with more tact, you can go for it again and again. And unlike its predecessor, at low power, it can also adapt to sensitive clitorises.
Moreover, like the Sona, the Sona Cruise has a concrete advantage over suction vibrators like the Womanizer or the Satisfyer. If, in the heat of the moment, a suction vibrator loses contact with the clit, the suction effect disappears, and the mood deflates like a soufflé. Here, there’s no suction, so that annoying phenomenon doesn’t happen.
Conclusion on the Lelo Sona Cruise 2
The good points:
- It’s a devastatingly effective sex toy for clitoral stimulation.
- Its softer tip is gentler on the clit than its predecessor’s.
- The sonic pulsations stimulate without suction. So there’s no risk of the sensations suddenly fading.
The bad points:
- Not really any bad points to mention, other than the fact that it’s a bit pricey. Indeed, it costs nearly 130 euros.
Note finale du test
Les plus
- Devastatingly effective clitoral stimulator
- Gentler on the clit than its predecessor
- No suction
Les moins
- Expensive
The Lelo Sona Cruise 2 is the worthy successor to the Sona Cruise. It delivers just as intense sensations, if not more, while remaining completely gentle on the clit. It’s an excellent clitoral stimulator, which I highly recommend.
