Encore un nouveau fabricant de wooden sextoys Made in France? When the manager of the Njoy Pleasure shop told me about the brand Bois d’Amour, I was surprised I had never heard of it before.
The Bois d’Amour brand, recently created, already offers ten different sextoys, each model available in two shades. So I decided to take a closer look.
Here is the review of the L’Original dildo by Bois d’Amour.

The Bois d’Amour dildos are packaged in a cardboard box, quite small and understated.
The wooden sextoy
Appearance of the L’Original dildo by Bois d’Amour
L’Original has a straight, symmetrical shape. It is probably made using a lathe. The finish is neat; no flaws are visible.
At one end, its handle, adorned with raised circles, provides a firm grip. On the other side, its head, wider than its central section, evokes, in a very “schematic” way, and slightly more “pointed”, the glans of an erect penis.
It is about 23 centimetres long, with a diameter of around 2.5 cm for its central section, and 4 cm for its head and handle.
The two ends of L’Original
I find it pretty… But, to be honest, not as beautiful as Idée du Désir’s creations, which, instead of staying straight, lean more towards curved and complex shapes.
L’Original comes in two shades: the one from the “Naturels” range is light, and the “Black Edition” is dark brown.
Texture and material
As their name suggests, all Bois d’Amour sextoys are made of wood. More precisely, ash wood from sustainably managed French forests. Ash is a light-coloured wood: I suppose the Black Edition’s dark colour must be due to the varnish (or a dye applied before the varnish).
The brand’s official website states that the varnish used is “non-toxic (standard 71.3), hypoallergenic and phthalate-free”.
Use of the L’Original dildo by Bois d’Amour
Whether vaginally or anally, penetration is made easier by the shape of L’Original’s head, which is very thin at first and gradually increases in diameter. Moreover, the varnished wood surface is very smooth and slides easily.
However, even with lube-coated fingers, L’Original doesn’t try to make a run for it, thanks to the raised ridges on its handle, which provide a grip zone.
The surface of the wood is slightly warm (and hard, of course); it is a pleasant, warm contact, very different from that of silicone.
Because of its straight shape, L’Original is not intended for G-spot stimulation. Used alone, it doesn’t take me to orgasm. But I found it very pleasant as a “sidekick sextoy”, to complement clitoral stimulation.
Conclusion on the L’Original dildo by Bois d’Amour
The good points:
- It’s a wooden sextoy, a noble material, healthy for the body.
- It is made in France, using wood from eco-managed forests.
- It is pleasant to use.
The bad points:
- Its straight shape.
L’Original by Bois d’Amour is, overall, a beautiful object, pleasant to use, and ethically made from a noble material… In short, no flaws to report…
But (there had to be a “but”…) I admit to having become a bit fussy when it comes to wooden sextoys after getting to know the creations by Nobessence and Idée du Désir – which really deliver, both visually and functionally, and raise the bar by a few notches… The straight shapes of Bois d’Amour’s sextoys (here, it is L’Original, but all the brand’s dildos have straight shapes) still leave me a little unsatisfied.
However, at the moment, its price is very low (under 45 euros at Njoy Pleasure due to a promo), which could be a good opportunity to try wooden sextoys on a modest budget.
