Sondage sexe : sextoys et politique

Sex poll: sex toys and politics

le

The online shop Absoloo has tackled a rather unusual subject: the use of sex toys according to political affiliation. Trying to correlate sex toys and politics seems somewhat incongruous. And yet, is there perhaps a link between your activities under the covers and in the polling station?

On 29 March, a survey was conducted by Ifop for the magazine Hot Video on the theme “Sex and politics”. This survey attempts to establish a correlation, dubious but amusing, between the sexual practices of French people and their political affiliation. On Sexactu, Maïa Mazaurette reacts to this survey, and wonders whether people on the left are more adventurous in bed.

Sex survey: sex toys and politics

Sex toys and politics

The “Sex toys and politics” survey was conducted from 23 to 27 April 2012. It was sent to 6347 people who had made a purchase on their site in the previous two months. It only looks at the differences between left and right, without going any further into the nuances between political parties. 3658 people responded.

57% of the people who responded to the survey described themselves as on the left, while 43% described themselves as on the right. Overall, 62% are women.

Of course, this is not a serious scientific study, as the people surveyed all have in common not only the consumption of erotic products, but also a tendency to choose this shop over another. The influence of a logo’s colour or a font is a parameter that is difficult to evaluate…

The results are no less amusing for all that. A few notable differences between the tastes of each political faction can be spotted.

Anal sex toys appear to lean left

64% of the left-leaning women surveyed say they are open to sex toys dedicated to anal pleasure, compared with 46% on the right.
Among men, on the left, 34% have already used an anal stimulator, compared with 11% on the right.

Remote controls and masturbators seem to lean right

61% of the right-leaning people surveyed use remote-controlled sex toys, compared with 39% on the left.
Among men, on the right 26% have already used a masturbator, compared with 14% on the left.

People are less influenced on the left than on the right

Among the survey participants, those on the right say they are mostly influenced by the opinions of other consumers (58% compared with 31% on the left). This trend is even more pronounced among women. 5% on the right compared with 31% on the left attach no importance to consumer opinions.

We do, however, research products just as much, regardless of political affiliation: 38% on the left compared with 37% on the right.

When it comes to sex toys, the capitalist loves novelty

Novelties are more successful on the right. On the left, 28% consider the fact that an item is a novelty as a determining criterion for their choice, 47% say they are attracted but hardly influenced, while 25% do not take this criterion into account. On the right, 52% will prefer novelties, 33% will be attracted by them, and 15% will not be affected.

Massage brings everyone into agreement

Good news: if you are constantly arguing with your partner because your political opinions differ, you can always resort to a massage to make up. Indeed, massage products are a unanimous favourite: 83% on the left and 81% on the right.

And in your opinion, are sex toys and politics linked?
