La CellMate is the first connected chastity cage. That should pique the curiosity of fans of long-distance Dom/sub.
But there’s good reason to wonder about the potential uses of such a device. Are there any risks to entrusting someone else with the key to your chastity cage remotely?
Intrigued, we decided to test the CellMate chastity cage.
Chastity cage packaging
The packaging looks pretty good, with a sturdy cardboard box padded with foam. However, no storage accessories are included.
What the CellMate connected chastity cage looks like
The chastity cage is rather pretty. Its modern look sets it apart from the “medical” or “dungeon” style found in many chastity accessories.
Texture and material
The main part of the CellMate is made of rigid plastic. Its locking mechanism is made of metal and seems pretty sturdy.
Powering the CellMate
The CellMate needs electricity to operate its lock. It is rechargeable.

Using the CellMate connected chastity cage
We used the CellMate together before the infamous buzz about connected chastity cages being hacked.
At the time, the question of security had worried us a little, but we decided to ignore it and try it anyway. Knowing now what we risked, I don’t think we’ll ever use it again.

The CellMate can only be used through its app, called Qiui. It’s available on the App Store or on Google Play.
The cage, from a hardware point of view
From a purely hardware point of view, this seems like a sturdy device. When it comes to the lock, the CellMate doesn’t mess about: you end up firmly locked up.
However, the cage is comfortable. A tiny amount of lube will help you put it on more easily. The penis feels comfortable inside, but the dimensions are small enough to prevent a full erection.
How the connected chastity cage works
In practice, the app and cage serve one single purpose: opening or closing the lock. You can control it yourself, or hand control over to someone else, even remotely.
If properly implemented and secured, this concept could have been pretty fun.
Long-distance domination has plenty of fans. Of course, the person in charge can simply order the sub to lock the cage themselves, and only take it off when they give permission. But the CellMate adds a physical dimension, which makes the control more tangible.
Some people choose to send the keys by post for this purpose, but it’s a bit awkward if the postie loses the letter. And this option is better suited to long-term use, whereas a good connected chastity cage could allow for shorter sessions. For example, just long enough for the person holding the keys to masturbate on webcam in front of the sub, who is temporarily deprived of the use of his penis, and then let him masturbate if he’s been good.
But unfortunately, this app is downright horrible.
Slapdash translations
The chastity cage is made in China, and so is its app. In short, everything has been translated from Chinese.
Even before installing the app, its description on Google Play gives us a taste of the quality of these translations…
“A new friend who creates software for young people”. Er, OK…
And if you’re wondering about the app’s privacy policy or its community rules, don’t expect to find much that’s readable.
Security vulnerabilities
A badly translated app isn’t the end of the world… But the CellMate has a major flaw that makes it dangerous to use and impossible to ignore: its security vulnerabilities.
Indeed, a few months ago, several CellMate users had their chastity cages hacked! Their penises ended up imprisoned (without their consent), and the hacker demanded a ransom in exchange for releasing them. One man also ended up with his cock trapped because of a connection problem with the app’s servers.
The thing is, by default, the cage stays locked, which is a truly absurd idea. And there’s no non-digital emergency release system (for example, a key) if the device gets stuck with your penis inside and you’re no longer enjoying the game.
Well, actually, there is: the company offered an alternative solution, which involves forcing open the front panel of the cage to access its circuitry. But you’ll have to cross your fingers and hope it works. And this method means breaking your lovely chastity cage, which you certainly won’t feel like using again any time soon, but still, nearly 200 euros is a lot for a disposable sex toy!

And to top it all off, some of your data, such as your username or geographical location, are also at the mercy of potential hackers. But if you’ve already got your cock trapped, you’re not exactly going to worry about that too.
Since those stories about cocks getting trapped, the manufacturer has released a new version of the app. But, well, it doesn’t inspire confidence. Especially as they haven’t bothered to use software to stop people who haven’t updated their app from using the old version, which contains the security vulnerability.
Conclusion on the CellMate connected chastity cage
The good points:
- The hardware is nice.
- The concept is fun.
The bad points:
- The poorly translated Chinese app is horrible.
- And above all, it has security vulnerabilities, and there’s a risk of having your penis taken hostage!!!
Note finale du test
Les plus
- Nice kit
- Fun concept
Les moins
- Dreadful app
- ... with security flaws
- ... and the risk of your penis being taken hostage!
Of course, because of its security vulnerabilities, which make it dangerous to use, we strongly advise against the CellMate. No fantasy is worth risking a penis-napping!
It’s a real shame, because its crappy app completely ruins a BDSM accessory whose concept was really interesting and whose hardware was pretty nice.
To make it safer, this cage should have had a non-digital failsafe, such as an emergency release with a key.
Merci à Meo.de de nous avoir fourni la CellMate pour ce test
