The Charme de Luxe shop offered us the chance to test the Corkscrew, from the brand Fucking Sculptures.
I had already heard of Fucking Sculptures. This brand, with its amusing name, makes beautiful in the United States sex toys in glass, using artisanal techniques.
But I’ll talk about sex toy manufacturing in more detail in a future article.
The Corkscrew, whose name can be translated as “corkscrew”, is a twisted glass dildo, whose shape is not without evoking a cornucopia.
Packaging
The Corkscrew doesn’t really have any packaging, as it is a handmade object, but the shop packed the sex toy very neatly, placed it in its case, then wrapped it in a thick layer of bubble wrap.
Theprovided storage case is very simple, but rather original: made of grey twill fabric, it closes with a brown ribbon that you tie.
The sex toy
Appearance
The Corkscrew is made ofa single piece of twisted glass, hand-sculpted. At first glance, it may seem opaque, but when you look at it a little more closely, held up to a lamp or in the sun, you can see that it is very slightly translucent, especially around its thinnest end.
The sample we received is black, speckled with grey-silver dashes that follow the curves of the twists. It is available in other colours (green, red, white, yellow). As it is handmade, the shape may vary slightly from one Corkscrew to another. It seems to have been made with great care: even up close, you will not notice any defects; the surface of the sex toy is perfectly smooth.
The Corkscrew is available in three sizes : Small (16 cm), Medium (17 to 20 cm) and Large (19 to 25 cm). The measurements are quite approximate: there is no mould for making it; each piece is unique. Judging by its dimensions, the one we received appears to be a Medium.
Texture and materials
The Corkscrew is made of glass. The brand guarantees that it won’t break during use. Of course, if you drop it on the floor, that’s a different matter: you need to avoid any knocks (and Captain Obvious thanks you for this moment of attentive listening on the subject “glass can break”).
I will spare you any further rambling about the materials used in sex toys. In summary: glass is hypoallergenic, non-porous and therefore hygienic, non-toxic… You just have to to make sure the dildo is in good condition before each use – and definitively repurpose it as a decorative object if it isn’t.
As for temperature play, one of the strengths of glass, the official site of Fucking Sculptures states a few precautions: never in boiling water, nor in the freezer, nor directly from one extreme temperature to the opposite. To add a touch of heat or cold, we will therefore content ourselves with the simplest method to implement: to run the glass dildo under the tap.
Use
The Corkscrew is inserted with its widest end, while the other end, thinner and curled onto itself, serves as a handle.
Based on photos I have come across online, the “handle” side seems more or less curved from one example to another. In any case, on the Corkscrew we received, this fine, curved and highly textured end is perfect for gripping the sex toy firmly and making it go back and forth while holding it with only one hand.
Fucking Sculptures’ official site states that the brand’s glass pleasure objects are sex toys exclusively intended for vaginal penetration, because they have neither a handle nor a flat base that could act as a stop to prevent the sex toy from getting stuck in the pussy during anal use.
As far as the Corkscrew is concerned, the curved end seems to me capable of serving as a reasonably decent handle. I don’t really see how someone could accidentally get the sex toy I tested stuck. But out of caution, I won’t attempt anal penetration, especially as it is still a bit too big to my taste for such a use. And perhaps some examples have a noticeably straighter handle, which could explain these recommendations.
The Corkscrew is therefore inserted starting with its widest head. The glass slides very well, and despite its fairly substantial dimensions, all it takes is a a small amount of lube to get it in.
I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to handle. Not only does it hold very well in the hand, but on top of that, once inserted, it fits the body’s shape perfectly, and doesn’t deviate a hair from its path until its tip comes to press against the G-spot. This end is rounded, broad, and exerts an even, effortless pressure across the whole area, all I have to do is adjust the pace and pressure to get what I want.
It does its job well: it provides effective stimulation. I like to use it alongside a powerful clitoral vibrator (such as the Fairy, for example). The ease with which the Corkscrew lands on the G-spot is an advantage for this kind of use: my hand holding it doesn’t have to make any complicated moves, which lets me also concentrate on the hand holding the vibrator, for instance to vary the vibration level. This way I reach an intense orgasm fairly quickly, and I can repeat it almost at will.
Conclusion
The good points:
- The Corkscrew is very pretty, and particularly original. Its craftsmanship is impeccable, and the details are meticulously finished.
- It stimulates the G-spot effectively and easily. Its head naturally positions itself in the right place when you insert it, and it only takes very simple movements to manoeuvre it in order to achieve intense stimulation.
- It’s an artisanal sex toy made in the United States : so a priori, no one has been exploited in its manufacture, which is not to be overlooked.
- Glass is a safe material, which poses no risk to the body and does not deteriorate over time. If you don’t drop it, the Corkscrew is a sex toy you can keep for a very long time.
The downsides:
- No specific downside, but it’s worth keeping in mind that it is made of glass, and therefore fragile. Among other things, it will therefore be difficult to carry.
- Its price is quite high (from 140 to 160 euros depending on the size).
In summary, I particularly like the Corkscrew. In general, I quite like glass sex toys, but of all the ones I’ve had on hand, The Corkscrew is my favourite. It is gorgeous, original, easy to handle and effective.
