The 1969 shop offered to let us test a sex toy from the brand Love to Love. Already owning the Cry Baby 2 vibrating egg and the Sexy Bunny 2 rabbit, I turned to a rather unusual BDSM accessory: the Love Paddle Manara.
This item, intended to deliver erotic spankings, is decorated with an illustration by the famous comic book artist Milo Manara.
Here is a review of the Love Paddle Milo Manara by Love to Love.
Packaging
The Love Paddle comes in a slim, elongated box.
The lower part of this packaging is black cardboard, while the upper part is clear plastic.
You can therefore admire the Love Paddle before opening it.
The Love Paddle Milo Manara
Since I’ve just been talking about admiring the Love Paddle, let’s have a closer look at it.
It is the exact opposite of the cliché “studded black leather” often associated with SM, without slipping into saccharine territory.
The paddle seems to be made of leather (it isn’t specified, but it smells like leather). But it is white, and decorated with a drawing by Milo Manara, printed on the part that will strike the buttocks, as well as the artist’s signature on its handle. A pink thread is stitched around the edge, framing the artwork. It is pretty, delicate, and fairly understated.
An elastic is attached to a rivet on the handle of the Love Paddle. This elastic is not spectacular, and doesn’t serve much of a purpose, except if you want to hang the accessory in a cupboard. In fact, the handle is enough to hold the thing well; it’s not as if it slips easily out of your hands.
Let’s look at the head of the paddle, and lean into its illustration (Facing the paddle, mind: we’ll lean the other way in the next paragraph).
The head of the paddle, front and back
The drawing depicts a woman, front-on. Leaning on her elbows and bottom in the air, she is about to receive a spanking. A mise en abîme quite appropriate to the situation in which the sex toy will be used.
Use and effect of the Love Paddle
Given the “all-adult” look of the Love Paddle, I expected a rather soft SM accessory. That is indeed the case. It is very easy to use, and you can easily gauge the intensity of the blows delivered. Even if you do it clumsily, it is therefore almost impossible to injure your partner with it, unless you really do it on purpose.
But, even so, a spanking with the Love Paddle can hurt the bottom. The paddle is quite flexible; it “bounces” on the bottom, capable of swatting gently, or quite hard if you wish.
The flexibility of the paddle
Once the spanking is over, it’s red for a moment, but it leaves no marks.
For us, that’s a plus. But for those who like to keep physical “souvenirs” of their BDSM sessions, it can be considered a drawback.
Conclusion on the Love Paddle Manara by Love to Love
The good points:
- The Love Paddle Manara is pretty, with an understated and original look, far from the classics.
- It is a simple BDSM accessory, easy to use and risk-free.
- It leaves no marks.
The bad points:
- No particular bad point. Not even its price: under €25, it remains very reasonable. It is a fairly simple object.
The Love Paddle Manara by Love to Love is an aesthetic BDSM accessory, with an original look, but not frilly.
It is an object that is easy to use and risk-free, and which will therefore be particularly suitable for beginners.
