By playing around with Google Trends, a tool that lets you track and compare changes in the number of Google searches for a given word, we discovered some amusing statistics about porn.
First of all, why do we use the internet? To learn? To find out about the latest scientific discoveries ? Or to have passionate philosophical debates with people from around the world? Enough with the hypocrisies. Here’s what you get if you compare the searches for the terms “porn”, “science” and “philosophy”. If you believe the statistics, the internet is for porn.

Sex or porn in Google searches?
In the past, on the internet, people far more often searched “sex” than “porn”. In 2010, these two keywords converged, and since 2012, “porn” starts to pull ahead.
Anal or oral?
“Anal sex” is searched for roughly twice as often as“oral sex”. This difference remains fairly constant, except in 2006, which is the year when, apparently, everyone suddenly starts googling anal sex left, right and centre (or maybe there’s a small bug in the measurements, because, well, there are quite a few spikes in the stats in 2006, after all…). The trend lingers a little into 2007, and then it stabilises again. Yet, among the referenced news items, there is generally more talk of oral sex than anal sex.
With or without hair?
The search for the terms “hairy pussy” is much more frequent than that of “shaved pussy”, and this difference widens over time. We can draw two hypotheses from this: either the web is looking for hairy pussy in porn, or a fair number of naive people have had a strange surprise while searching for photos of cute, fluffy kittens.
Google searches, porn and threesomes
When it comes to threesomes, “MMF” (two men, one woman) and “FFM” (two women, one man) are equivalent.
BDSM porn on the decline
Strangely enough, the BDSM seems to be losing popularity. Google searches for the words “bondage”, “bdsm”, “mistress”, “femdom” and “domina” * are on the decline.
Germans are the biggest fans of these keywords. Besides, if you compare “French fetish” and “German fetish”, Germans are, by far, in the lead when it comes to fetishism. On the other hand, the French are reputed to be the sexiest: if you compare “French sexy” and “German sexy” , the French win.

(*) It’s not misandry, yes, when it comes to keywords representing BDSM, I’ve left male dominants out of it: if you search for “master”, you find all sorts of things: degrees, Metallica, golf, decor, Jedi, films… The occurrences of this term are therefore not very representative.
Same goes for the latex, rubber and leather fetishes, which are being googled less and less. Catwoman must be feeling alone these days.
The bukkake, it too, has lost its former popularity. Meanwhile, orgies (“orgy”, “group sex”), the cumshot and the dwarf porn – what the hell? – remain stable.
Rising porn trends on Google
Rising trends: thefemale ejaculation(“squirting”), which is rocketing in 2012, the gonzo, the gay porn, the MILF and the cuckolds.
Now that you’re reassured about the normality of the porn-hungry internet user, you can, without the slightest qualm, watch this weird video that shows how to use an inflatable sex doll. You’ve probably guessed it, given that the link comes from X guinea pig hamster, where you see people stark naked doing strange things. With 1990s techno in the background, if you please. Sensitive souls and epileptics, beware.
