Review of the wooden sex toy Adam, by Idée du Désir

le

If a beautiful wooden sex toy appeals to you, you’ve probably already heard of Idée du Désir, the sculptor of erotic objects whose wooden creations never cease to amaze me.

Idée du Désir teamed up with a fellow sex toy reviewer, Nouveaux Plaisirs, to design a wooden dildo, combining their talents. And so Adam was created, born of the blogger’s imagination and the woodworker’s hands. All very biblical, don’t you think?

Adam wooden sex toy, by Idée du Désir

Adam is the pseudonym of the main writer at Nouveaux Plaisirs, who, like Hodor, has kept things simple when it comes to naming objects. Freely putting his inspiration to work for female pleasure, Adam (the blogger, not the dildo) decided to create a dildo designed to stimulate the G-spot. After Idée du Désir turned his sketch into a tangible sex toy, he tested it on his partner… And he tells you all about it on his blog.

The description of the beast made me keen to try it out… So I decided to find out for myself. Here’s my review of Adam by Idée du Désir.

Adam is available with or without a case: the version shown here, in a “classic” fabric pouch, costs 109 euros, while the case will set you back an extra thirty euros.

Thirty euros seems a little steep for an accessory to store a sex toy in. But this case… Wow, this case! A beautiful, thick, dark wooden box, padded and lined with satin at the bottom… It’s seriously classy.

In practical terms, the box isn’t essential. If you’re prioritising convenience, the pouch takes up less space and is therefore easier to carry around. But if it’s a gift, it really makes an impression.

Inside the case, an instruction leaflet, rolled up like a scroll, offers a few tips on caring for the item: water and soap are all you need to clean it, before leaving it to dry. Don’t leave it to soak (over time, this can damage the wood), and don’t use solvent-based products.

There’s also a sample of lubricant, as well as an Idée du Désir business card with a number on it: each piece is numbered, and the one we received is number 5, which is also engraved inside its handle.

What Adam looks like

Adam is a rather substantial dildo, especially in width: its head is 4 centimetres in diameter (as this sex toy isn’t meant to be inserted all the way, there’s no reason to be put off by its length).

With its pronounced curve and round head, you can tell at first glance that it’s designed to stimulate the G-spot.

It looks much more substantial than Idée du Désir’s other sex toys (for example, the Orchidée, the anal plug and the Désir Papillon), but it’s still full of detail. The body of the toy is intricately carved, decorated with raised grooves.

Its handle is circular but asymmetrical, and looks a little like a corkscrew tail curled in on itself. You can slip one or two fingers through it to hold the dildo and guide its movements.

Material: a wooden sex toy

The one we received is made from light-coloured wood (I think it’s cherry).

Adam is also available in walnut, which is darker and has more grain, forming natural “patterns” across the surface of the wood, and in very pale maple.

Using Adam

At first, the thing, with its rather wide head, seemed difficult to insert. So I took precautions, armed with a good amount of lubricant and the Europe Magic Wand. To my great surprise, I managed it without any problem.

Having read Comme une image’s review beforehand, I expected to feel some discomfort at first. It was indeed there; it came from the way the head of the sex toy seemed to get “stuck” behind the pubic bone, which felt a little odd at first, but that unease quickly disappeared.

Adam in its case

The handle lets you hold the thing without it slipping out of your hands, certainly, but there’s one slight problem: the hole you put your fingers through is perfectly circular, so when there’s a bit too much lubricant around to make everything glide, nothing stops Adam from spinning around, with your fingers as its axis. This makes it harder to control the dildo’s vertical angle. A version of Adam with the two “conjoined” holes in the handle of the Orchidée might be worth considering.

Adam by Idée du Désir and L’Original by Bois d’Amour

I first tried making “little circles”, as Nouveaux Plaisirs describes in his review. For me, this kind of stimulation didn’t have the desired effect—and I have to say, my fingers were slipping, so it wasn’t easy to make small, precise movements.

More decisive back-and-forth movements proved much more effective. I do mean “a little” more decisive: just small thrusts to press against the G-spot, quite gently but firmly, with no bigger movements. As I gradually picked up the pace, the orgasms came one after another.

Adam, a wooden dildo by Idée du Désir

Adam is a sex toy that doesn’t beat about the bush. It sets out to nestle its big head against your G-spot, and does so brilliantly. All while being a beautiful object, hand-carved from fine wood.

Merci à Idée du Désir  de nous avoir fourni l'Adam pour ce test
