VStroker review: interacting with porn

The VStroker is a sex toy of the future. Or almost, since it already exists.

It is a device that contains a motion sensor. You screw this accessory onto the base of a Fleshlight masturbator, in place of its cap. The device communicates wirelessly with a USB dongle, which plugs into the PC.

This allows you tointeract using your penis with interactive porn videos designed for this purpose, or even with certain erotic video games.

The creators of the VStroker sent us a sample for us to test. I will therefore try to share my impressions of this strange and promising accessory.

The VStroker arrived in a small cubic cardboard box.

The VStroker

A rather discreet accessory, the VStroker is a sort of black cylinder. Its diameter is the same as the narrowest part of a Fleshlight (the side where you don’t put your willy, of course).

On one side, a threaded fitting that lets you attach it to a Fleshlight. On the opposite side, a button, an indicator light, and the brand logo.

 

Included with it are:

• A small USB receiver. This accessory, which looks like a USB stick or a Wi-Fi dongle, allows it to communicate with a PC.
• An installation CD, which has an odd shape.
• A pair of “3D glasses”… Ahem… Or rather, plastic glasses with a red “lens” for one eye, and a blue “lens” for the other eye. Yes, like the ones you used when you were little to see dinosaur images in 3D, using ananaglyph.
• Two batteries.

 

Power

The sex toy runs on two AAA batteries, which are included. To put them in, you open the VStroker by unscrewing it, then lift the small hatch to access their compartment.

 

Compatibility

The VStroker is compatible with the vast majority of Fleshlight models.

That is to say with all Fleshlight and Fleshjack models in “standard” size, but not the Flight, Sword, Blade or “Sex in a can” models. The housing of these models is too small to screw it on.

 

I tried it with the Fleshlight Alien that we had tested.

 

On the software side, the VStroker player is available in two versions: for Windows and for Mac OS X. You choose the version when you buy a video. Linux users, for their part, can, as usual, fend for themselves. Or try to get it working with Wine, which I haven’t tried.

Using the Vstroker

Writing this article required quite a bit of “air wank“, the act of endlessly shaking the Vstroker without any other accessory, to make it believe that a penis is being masturbated in the vicinity. And that, in order to note all the details and obtain correct screenshots.

An interactive video with the VStroker

The video provided with the VStroker allows you to share some intimate moments with the actress Victoria Rae. You see the scenes from the partner’s point of view. In the intro, all you do is admire.

This is followed by eight interactive scenes, each representing a sexual position, after a mini-animation that introduces each sequence. You can move from one scene to another by clicking on its number, or by typing its number on the keyboard.

Point of view and camera

The camera is “in subjective view”, in the manner of a FPS (or doom-like for those my age), and therefore positioned in the same spots as the actor’s gaze.

His penis protrudes from the bottom of the screen, giving me the impression that it’s mine. When he shows his arm, I find it a little harder to imagine that it’s my arm, since it’s all tattooed, but why not.

Up to this point, you could manage to do the same thing without a VStroker, with a POV video cut into several scenes on a standard DVD.

The influence of penile movements on the video

But the VStroker, in all this, allows the Fleshlight movements to directly influence the video. And more precisely, on the image speed. The penetration rate is therefore matched to the back-and-forth movements of the penis in the Fleshlight.

Which gives (a bit) the impression, combined sensations and visuals, of penetrating the lady… Well, she still remains on the screen, after all.

The whole thing is quite impressive, despite a few minor bugs.

For example, if I really slow down the pace too much, Victoria puts on a very pitiful air and tries to remotivate me by asking me (in English) to carry on. In itself, it’s rather well done, but it can also quickly take a strange turn if there’s a pause. There, for example, while I’m writing this article, the VStroker lying motionless on the table, the scene “Oh, poor little kitten, is your little penis feeling all sad?” is repeated in a loop… It’s quite disconcerting.

And, to finish, the cumshot the traditional porn cumshot, in which you don’t really intervene (except to trigger the launch of the scene), and a smiling wave at the camera.

Downloadable content

Apart from the provided sample video, the content usable with the VStroker is paid-for.

A fair number of “classic” videos, and a few intriguing curiosities (not having seen them, I wouldn’t know whether to recommend or advise against them) :

• “This Ain’t Avatar XXX”, a porn parody of the film Avatar, with actress Misty Stone : a film that is meant to reveal the full potential of the Fleshlight Alien.
• A threesome, with Madison Ivy and Heather Starlet.
• A 3D animation featuring a character representing actress Nicole Aniston, who lent her voice to the video.

In the package, a few videos are in “3D” (these are anaglyphs) and meant to be viewed with the glasses included.

Two payment options are offered: purchasing videos individually, or a subscription.

Purchasing videos individually

Interactive videos compatible with the VStroker are for sale on its official site. They cost between $6 and $10 on the US version of the site (roughly between €4.60 and €7.60)… And between €6 and €10 on the European version.

Given that purchased content is downloaded (so no shipping costs) and that it apparently works perfectly fine to buy from the US site based in France, the choice is obvious. Especially as new releases first appear on VStroker.com before also becoming available on VStroker.eu. As it stands, 33 videos are listed on the former, and only 29 on the latter.

It isn’t cheap for anyone used to watching porn for free. But compared with prices for VOD porn… You end up paying much the same order of magnitude forbuying a VStroker interactive video containing about ten scenes in which you’re the hero, and for rental of a Dorcel video (three hours – and nobody is going to masturbate for three hours in a row, so one rental equals a wank), for example.

The subscription

The subscription costs 30 euros a month. It gives unlimited access to all the videos offered in the VStroker shop.

I am not sure that it is worth it in the long term compared with buying videos individually. For now, 33 videos on a site that has been around for a year mean an average of about 3 videos a month, which is a bit thin. But on the other hand, the subscription gives direct access to all the existing videos… And the number of videos published each month may increase over time to keep subscribers loyal.

There is also a package at 130 euros for a 6-month subscription.

Video games compatible with the VStroker

The VStroker is compatible with two video games, which you can also play without this accessory: 3D Sexvilla and Red Light Center.

3D Sexvilla

3D Sexvilla is a game in which you frolic with virtual characters.

However, in the free version of the game, the genitals of the characters are censored.

Technically, it doesn’t stop you using the VStroker, but in practice, it kills the whole point of the thing.

To see the tits and the buns, you need to buy a texture pack: the “SexPack Full & Hardcore”. This costs 5,000 SexCoins, or just under €10.

Red Light Center

Red Light Center is an adult-only, multiplayer virtual world, in the style of Second Life.

You can play there for free; however, to access the sexual features, you have to pay for a subscription, which costs US$20 a month (around €15).

The game has various themed zones, particularly for the practice of BDSM.

Conclusion

Pros:

• It’s innovative, original, fun, and it works rather well. A perfectly successful mix of male sextoy and porn.

Cons:

• In practice, let’s be honest, you can’t use the VStroker without occasionally spending some money on content or a subscription.

In itself, the VStroker is a fantastic gadget. It allows a brand-new experience, a taste of the future of porn.

Then, the financial aspect and the philosophy that goes with it need to be taken into account. You have to subscribe, or pay for content regularly, if you want to be able to use the item after purchase… In the World of Warcraft or Nespresso style.

Should you buy the VStroker?

If you are used to buying porn via VOD, for example, I highly recommend the VStroker. It is far funnier than a standard video, and it isn’t more expensive. If you are already subscribed to Red Light Center, or if you have acquired the virtual items needed to play 3D Sexvilla comfortably, it is also well worth it.

But if you never buy any digital content at all, such as VOD, the VStroker may be nice, but I don’t think it will be enough to make you want to change your habits. And so, unless you find a very particular interest in watching the same video (the one included with the VStroker) in a loop or in censored sex video games, you won’t be able to make full use of it. You will have to spend a little more to actually make the most of it.

I think that the VStroker would benefit from opening up to creators. The gadget would probably multiply its popularity if it allowed its users to adapt their own videos to its player. And with a little editing, it could offer a very pleasant new way to enjoy your private videos. And, why not, a way to practise thefuture exhibitionism.
