The Laid D2 is a stone dildo, and more precisely, one made from larvikite, a Norwegian volcanic rock.
But while cave women may have used erotic toys made from a similar material, the D2 is a far cry from the cliché of the prehistoric sex toy. It’s a sculpted dildo with modern curves, a pleasure object whose shape has been meticulously designed for G-spot stimulation.
Throughout this blog, I’ve featured a wide range of silicone sex toys, but also dildos made of wood, glass, ceramic, steel… And even a vibrating teddy bear.
But until now, I hadn’t yet had the chance to try a stone sex toy. That’s changed now: here’s my take on the Laid D2 dildo.
Packaging of the sex toy
The box is very simple, made of packaging cardboard, unbleached and uncoated. The name of the sex toy, along with a few extra details, is printed on it in understated black.
This type of packaging is meant to give an impression of raw, natural luxury, in a Nordic design kind of way. You’d almost expect to find a mini IKEA furniture piece inside.
Inside, there’s a thick layer of foam padding, which could probably have been done without. Given the eco-friendly angle, biodegradable padding would have been more appropriate.
It’s worth noting, however, that the Laid D2, although designed in Norway, is nonetheless manufactured in China. Like Lelo, it’s luxurious, sure, but that luxury doesn’t extend to the wages of the people who make the sex toy.
No storage accessory is included, which is a bit of a shame.
Shape of the Laid D2 dildo
Judging by its official promotional photos, I expected the Laid D2 to be a granite twin of the Lelo Ella, a well-known classic among G-spot dildos.
But first of all, it’s much bigger than the Ella. And I’ll leave you to imagine my surprise when, upon unboxing the package, I noticed that the part of the sex toy I had assumed was its head, as it looked similar to the Ella’s in photos at least, had an asymmetrical shape.
My train of thought unfolded roughly as follows:
– “Oh no! We’ve received a model with a manufacturing defect, it’s all twisted, we’re going to have to send it back!”
– “No, actually, stone twisting by accident isn’t very plausible. They don’t make them in a volcano, after all. It’s probably deliberate.
– “But for what purpose? It’s going to be either uncomfortable or frustrating on one side! What a bloody terrible idea! No doubt about it: it’s just snobbery!”
It was only when I handled it that I understood.
The asymmetrical part is the handle, whose shape allows you to grip the dildo more firmly in your hand. The insertable part is curved and symmetrical. The brand’s official website seems to say the opposite, but sex toy instruction manuals are often utter bollocks.
Appearance and dimensions of the Laid D2 dildo
The Laid D2 is a sizeable object. Bigger and more curved than the Lelo Ella, it measures 18 centimetres in length, and its diameter is around 4 cm at its widest point.
Contrary to what its name might suggest, the Laid is far from ugly. The surface of the stone, a black speckled with dark grey, forms a lovely pattern. An engraving of the brand’s logo, in a slightly lighter grey, discreetly adorns its handle.
Texture and material
I’ve already mentioned in the intro to this Laid D2 review that it’s made of larvikite.
This natural stone of volcanic origin comes from Norway. It takes its name from the town of Larvik, where the main quarries from which it is extracted are located. It’s sometimes referred to as “blue granite,” although it’s not granite.
It’s primarily a construction material, used in the making of façades and gravestones. And, thanks to Laid, sex toys.
This rock formed nearly 300 million years ago, so as far as durability goes, there’s not much to worry about. However, although I haven’t found any concrete information on this, the sex toy will probably break if dropped on a hard surface.
Naturally, it’s hard. It’s rock, so you probably figured that much… But it’s also very smooth.
Effectiveness of the Laid D2 dildo
The D2 is a fantastic G-spot dildo! It sits somewhere between a more luxurious and refined version of the Lelo Ella and the Fucking Sculptures Corkscrew, with a slightly less pronounced curve, but a look and feel that are quite similar.

It allows you to firmly stimulate the area, without getting in the way of thrusting, more or less vigorous and more or less fast depending on the sensations you’re after.
The perfectly smooth texture glides wonderfully, even with a tiny amount of lubricant. The movements are fluid, and the penetration, vigorous yet gentle.
On top of that, it’s very easy to play with temperatures, as the stone quickly absorbs the warmth or coolness of the water you run it under.
Finally, its handle provides a firm and stable grip. Despite its smooth-as-smooth surface, the dildo doesn’t slip from my fingers. That’s not always the case with every sex toy, and nothing is more frustrating than a sex toy that tries to make a run for it mid-action.

Conclusion on the Laid D2 dildo
The good points:
- The Laid D2 is a remarkably effective dildo for G-spot stimulation.
- It’s a volcanic stone sex toy. Its unusual material, with its pleasant, smooth and hard, speckled surface, makes it unique.
- Thanks to its shape, it offers a firm grip.
The bad points:
- Its price is quite high: close to €100. It’s still far less than the amount you’d spend on a Womanizer Premium or a Lelo Soraya, for instance, and it’s a much more durable sex toy. But for a dildo, it’s still pricey.
- No storage accessory is included. A case would have been welcome!
Note finale du test
Les plus
- Super effective for the G-spot
- Stone sex toy
- Good grip
Les moins
- High price
- No storage case
The Laid D2 is a sex toy that is at once effective, simple and beautiful. It’s an object that would fit dignantly into a thoughtfully curated sex toy collection, combining quality and orgasmic potential.
The only downside is that it’s not in everyone’s price range. But the brand also caters to tighter budgets with the Laid D1, a silicone model of the same shape that doesn’t go above €45.
