Europe Magic Wand: test of an ultra-powerful vibrator

le

The Europe Magic Wand, created by a Danish company, is presented as a reissue of the famous Hitachi Magic Wand, improved and adapted to European standards.

The Hitachi Magic Wand was banned from sale in the EU over compliance issues with these standards, so this new sex toy is the perfect opportunity for me, a European who never got to experience the Hitachi before it was banned, to get a feel for the legend.

Packaging

Europe Magic Wand packaging

As for the packaging, nothing particularly exciting: thick cardboard, sturdy and disposable, and inside, a plastic film that protects the sex toy. Who cares? What matters is what’s inside the box.

The sex toy

Appearance

In practice, the official Europe Magic Wand website doesn’t explicitly state that it’s a new version of the Hitachi Magic Wand… But it strongly implies as much, mentioning the original ultra-powerful vibrator several times.

Europe Magic Wand

It really looks a lot like the Hitachi Magic Wand (apart from a few tiny details—the logo, for example), and therefore also looks like a massager. It’s quite bulky: its dimensions are similar to those of the Body Wand or the Smart Wand Large.

Texture and materials

The head of the Europe Magic Wand is soft, unlike those of the Fairy or the Body Wand, which are hard. Its neck is slightly flexible, like those of the other two.

The product description says the head is covered with “high-quality silicone,” which, in practical terms, doesn’t tell us much about the purity of the material.

I noticed a slight plastic smell when unboxing (nothing awful, really only when I put my nose right up against it), which leaves me with a few doubts about whether it’s actually 100% silicone. But the smell disappeared after washing and hasn’t returned, so perhaps it was simply residue left on the sex toy’s surface during manufacturing.

Power supply

Like the Hitachi, the Europe Magic Wand plugs into the mains.

Its power cord measures 2.4 metres, longer than those of the Fairy, the Body Wand or the Palm Power.

This gives me a little more leeway with the “distance from the socket” constraint that comes with corded vibrators. For example, plugged in at the edge of my bed, I can use it pretty much anywhere on the bed, whatever my position. That’s not the case with the Fairy or the Body Wand, which can unplug at the worst moment if I move a little too far from the wall (and, like just about anyone, being cut off mid-flow when I’m about to come makes me furious).

This cord length is enough without being ridiculously excessive, like a DIY extension cord. Anyway, you rarely need to take it around the block. Of course, corded power comes with the usual limitations: keep water away while using it, and be careful not to submerge it when cleaning (which, obviously, you should only do once it’s unplugged).

Use

Controls

The Europe Magic Wand has a switch with two positions: “+” and “−”. The switch isn’t very responsive when turning it on. You have to hold “+” down for a long time (at least one second) before the sex toy starts. Perhaps this is intentional, to prevent it starting up unexpectedly, but even so, on my first try I thought it was broken.

Once that detail is out of the way, it’s simple. Short presses on the ‘+’ button increase the power. As for the ‘-‘ button, short presses on it lower the intensity, and a long press switches the thing off.

Effectiveness

The Europe Magic Wand is really very, very, very powerful. Even more so than the Body Wand and the Fairy. Granted, those two are already very powerful, more than enough… But when it comes to vibrations, more power never hurts.

During use, there are no particular problems: it stays plugged in and switched on, and adjusts without a hitch… It is therefore ultra-mega-powerful. The vibrations are extremely strong across the whole surface of its head, without losing intensity, and they penetrate deeply.

At first, I thought I would never use it at maximum intensity. Even its lowest setting is no joke with that vrrr!. But I eventually found a use for its supreme brute force: you don’t have to aim precisely. Holding it next to my clit (above it) at full power, I can rely on the vibrations spreading to make me come without difficulty.

What’s more, the soft texture of its head cushions friction: if I’m a little more sensible and turn the vibrations down enough to apply it directly against my clit without worrying, I don’t experience any discomfort over time; I can use it as much as I like.

Conclusion on the Europe Magic Wand

The good points:

  • It’s the most powerful vibrator I’ve come across so far: adjustable vibrations up to an extreme level (any more would be pointless) that transmit well.
  • Its head is soft, which reduces the risk of too much friction against the clitoris.
  • Its resemblance to the original: admittedly, the original isn’t particularly good-looking, but there’s always that ‘legendary artefact’ effect.

The bad points:

  • The button that lags when turning on. In the end, it’s not a big deal, but they could mention it somewhere, so that we know it’s normal on first use.

The Europe Magic Wand and its flexible neck

The main takeaway from this review is that the Europe Magic Wand is even more of a powerhouse than the Fairy. Its head is wonderfully soft.

It ticks all the essential boxes for a good vibrator. It vibrates hard (that’s an understatement) and well, with a lovely texture that sets it apart from its completely rigid competitors.

As a result, I think I prefer it to the Fairy Mini and the Body Wand (even though it’s a close contest!), despite its adjustment button, which I find a little less intuitive.

If you’re looking for the most powerful vibrator possible, I recommend it as my number-one choice.
