The Nunky by Idée du Désir is a wooden vaginal plug, decorated with a Yin and Yang symbol. It comes with a stand (also made of wood, of course), on which it stands upright thanks to a hidden magnet system. The stand can also be used as a massage stone.
I’ve told you many times about Idée du Désir, the passionate cabinetmaker who hand-carves sumptuous wooden sex toys, such as the Orchidée, the Adam and the Désir Papillon, which we’ve had the chance to test.
Now out of obscurity (he’s even appeared on a TV programme!), Pascal has thrown himself into his creations. They’ve been so successful that he’s taken on an apprentice to help him. Always on the lookout for the tiniest detail and striving for perfection, his pieces are elaborate and innovative. Just because something is a wooden sex toy doesn’t mean it’s rustic and rudimentary—far from it.
His latest creation, the Nunky, is no exception.
Sex toy packaging
The Nunky comes in a red cardboard box decorated with a bow. It’s both eco-friendly and beautifully presented. Inside, the two parts of the sex toy are carefully wrapped in tissue paper.
This box isn’t intended for long-term storage of the sex toy. For that, a satin pouch is provided.
A note explaining the few precautions to take when caring for the sex toy is also included, rolled up like a scroll.
Don’t worry, there’s nothing complicated about it:
- To clean it: just use soap and water (or intimate wash, if you prefer), then rinse and leave it to dry.
- Precautions: don’t leave it to soak, don’t use solvent-based products (essential oils, perfumes, etc.) that could damage the varnish, and if you drop it, check that the sex toy’s varnish hasn’t cracked or chipped.
What the Nunky by Idée du Désir looks like
At first glance, you might think it’s an anal plug. But look a little closer and you’ll see that the Nunky is bigger, and that its shape is designed to suit the anatomy of the vagina.
The Nunky itself is about twelve centimetres long. On the base of the sex toy (the part that stays outside the vagina), which is engraved and gilded, there’s a logo and a small circle made from a perfectly inlaid piece of wood. Hidden underneath is the magnet that lets the Nunky stand on its base. The insertable part starts with a narrow section about three centimetres long, before continuing into a rounded, curved head decorated on both sides with a Yin and Yang symbol.
The stand, shaped like a leaf with a delicately carved edge, is flat and slightly wider than the base of the sex toy. A circle on its front hints at the position of a second magnet.
I’m amazed by the level of detail. Along with the natural grain of the wood, there’s the combination of different types of wood to create variations in colour, all without the slightest visible join.
Texture and materials
The Nunky’s stand is made of walnut, while the sex toy itself is made from an inlay of three different types of wood, a marquetry technique known to cabinetmakers. Its body is made of cherry wood, while the Yin and Yang symbol is made from walnut (for the dark colour) and maple (for the lighter shade).
The whole piece is covered with several coats of non-toxic varnish, which makes the carving waterproof.
The Nunky by Idée du Désir and its stand are perfectly smooth. If you run a fingertip over them and pay close attention, you can just about make out the outline of the circle, but you can’t feel it during use.
Using the Nunky by Idée du Désir
The Nunky is designed for gentle stimulation, acting on the G-spot and clitoris at the same time.
Insert it with the tip of its head pointing towards your navel. This way, its head stimulates the G-spot, while its external part stimulates the clitoris.
Once it’s in position, there are several ways to use it:
As a vaginal plug
The Nunky can be worn as a vaginal plug, and using it this way is quite similar to using the Désir Papillon. With the sex toy discreetly in place in the vagina during the daily grind, don’t expect instant ecstasy, but rather gentle, constant stimulation—a sense of presence. It’s a bit like wearing geisha balls. It’s comfortable, without the slightest discomfort, and the shape of the sex toy fits the female anatomy perfectly.
Of course, you shouldn’t wear it for twenty-four hours straight. But beyond the arousal, wearing it for a few hours can also help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which naturally tend to contract to keep the sex toy in place.

For Kegel exercises
Kegel exercises involve doing sets of pelvic floor contractions to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Contrary to popular belief, they’re not just for women recovering from childbirth. Having a healthy pelvic floor improves the pleasure you feel during sexual activity. And, something worth bearing in mind in the long term, the pelvic floor helps keep all the organs above it in place.
Kegel exercises can be done without any accessories, but there are also connected sex toys that can help you practise them and see if you’re doing them correctly by measuring your “performance”—in particular, the Airbee and the Gballs, which we’ve tested. Their sensors are more or less successful, as they’re not always quite up to scratch.
The Nunky is a new alternative. And in this case, there’s no denying it: without electronics, it’s simpler and works better. All you have to do is put the Nunky in place and contract your pelvic floor muscles around its narrowest part. If you’ve got the movement right, you can feel it, and you’ll see the external part of the Nunky move.
By hand
If you want stronger sensations, you can also play with the Nunky “by hand”, pressing on its base, making small circles or moving it gently up and down, and letting the sensations guide you. This way, the external part rubs against the clitoris, and you can vary the pressure the internal part puts on the G-spot as much as you like, creating particularly intense stimulation.
It’s a far cry from “30-second flat” sex toys: you need to take your time and enjoy the sensual, delicious sensations.
The base of the sex toy and the pebble are magnetised, so they attract each other. And if you bring the pebble close while the sex toy is in the vagina, the Nunky moves.
The movement is of course less precise and less controlled than when you hold the sex toy directly in your hand. But this feature makes it even more fun when playing as a couple, allowing for a surprising, exploratory “by feel” experience.
That’s vaginal use covered. Now let’s move on to the other possibilities.
The clitoral massage stone
The stand isn’t just a decorative support. It can also be used for massages, as well as caressing the vulva and clitoris. This isn’t about reaching the seventh heaven in a flash. It really is gentle stimulation, a prelude for anyone who wants pleasure to build very gradually. As an anal plug
Although it wasn’t designed for this, the Nunky can also be used as a (large) anal plug. The sex toy then stimulates the G-spot indirectly through the wall of the anus. However, if you’re new to anal play, you’d be better off choosing a smaller sex toy, as the Nunky’s insertable part has a fairly substantial diameter (about 3.5 centimetres).
Note that when the Nunky is worn anally in its natural position, simultaneous vaginal penetration isn’t possible, as the toy’s base blocks the entrance to the vagina.
