The online shop Sexy Market offered us the chance to test the Vibro Lapinou, a small clitoral sex toy in the shape of a rabbit.
I had already come across a lookalike of this sex toy under various names: the Totoro by Odeco, the LoversPremium Honey O-Bunny and the Muse Massager. I therefore thought my interlocutor was referring to one of these models. Well no, it really is the Sexy Market version of the big-browed rabbit.
I don’t know if the various versions have differences, but at first glance, they seem to resemble each other quite a lot.
Let’s see what this Sexy Market Lapinou is worth.
Packaging of the sex toy
The packaging looks quite good, but it is disposable, and therefore of little interest.
Let’s turn our attention instead to the sex toy.
Appearance of the Vibro Lapinou
The Vibro Lapinou is cute. It looks like a rabbit, but also (and especially) like Totoro, Miyazaki’s cute forest spirit. Its instructions even admit that it is inspired by this character.
In use, it lights up all over. Its eyes and eyebrows light up (differently depending on the mode selected), and the ring forming the edge of its belly blinks.
All these lighting effects make it a bit gadget-like, admittedly, but a rather well-made gadget. No flaws on its surface, it has a certain heft (not eight tons, but enough to feel substantial), the details are well done…
And, as a bonus, it makes a great spinning top. Obviously that’s not its original purpose, but it spins really well on its own. You’d almost regret it being a sex toy. You feel like carrying this funny rabbit around with you and showing it off, but that would be rather frowned upon in public.
Dimensions
The Lapinou measures 9 centimetres tall, 5 centimetres in diameter. In short, it’s a pocket rabbit.
Texture and material
The upper body and ears of the Lapinou are made of pure silicone, while its bottom is ABS plastic (only safe materials, therefore).
As usual with silicone sex toys, to look after its sensitive little rabbit skin, keep it away from materials it might react chemically with: water-based lubricants only, and find it a pouch or storage case.
The lower body is rigid, while the ears are flexible.
It is odourless: sniffed and approved.
Charging the Vibro Lapinou
The Lapinou is rechargeable (and it’s already charged when you take it out of its packaging).
But when unboxing it, we had a rather surprising bad surprise. The charger is there, the spot where you’re supposed to plug it in is clearly indicated, but… no hole ! …? How are you supposed to recharge it?
Puzzled, we first examined it from every angle, hoping to discover a mechanism that would reveal the hidden port. Ah, well, no, there isn’t one.
Or rather, there is a port, but it’s under the silicone, where you can make out a little circle beneath the “DC” inscription. The hole in the covering has been forgotten.
You therefore have to pierce a hole, being careful not to ruin anything. Okay. We struggled for a good quarter of an hour, not knowing quite what to do as we didn’t want to damage it… But we eventually managed. The technique was to keep the charger plug nicely horizontal (assuming Lapinou-Totoro is sitting on its bottom), and to push a bit.
Were we unlucky and was this a flaw in this particular unit, or does this problem affect all the Lapinous? No idea.
That said, once this step (somewhat laborious, especially with no instructions whatsoever) is over, the charging itself works fine. I didn’t time the allowed usage time before needing to recharge it, but I used it several times without the battery showing any signs of weakness.
Controls and modes
The Vibro Lapinou has 10 modes:
- 3 vibration intensity levels
- 7 pulsing modes
You switch on the vibrator, then move to the following vibration modes by pressing one of its eyes (your choice, depending on which mode you want to start with). You go back to the previous mode by pressing the other eye.
To switch it off, you cycle through the modes (in one direction or the other, it doesn’t matter) until the vibrations stop.
You’ll notice, by the way, that its operation does not match the instructions indicated on the packaging (weird…). But you don’t really need instructions to understand how to use the device.
Noise level
The Lapinou belongs in the ranks of quiet vibrators. With the door closed, it can’t be heard in the next room.
Effectiveness of the Vibro Lapinou
The Lapinou’s flexible ears are intended for clitoral stimulation. Its power surprised me. For such a little critter, it vibrates very, very strongly !
All things considered, of course. Nothing like an ultra-powerful corded vibrator such as the Body Wand or Fairy. But for a mini vibrator that is battery-powered, it’s quite the brute.
Before trying the Lapinou, I thought you used it by sandwiching the clit between its two ears. Apparently, I had overestimated the size of my clit. When trying to place the device like that, the contact area is very small, compared to the diameter of the ears.
The ideal position turns out to be: one of the Lapinou’s ears directly on the clit, well flat, to do all the work, and the other ear above or below the clit, providing a little bonus stimulation. The ears are flexible: so it’s fairly easy to position, and comfortable.
The surface silicone is a bit soft. Not as much as the tip of the We Vibe Touch or the Fun Factory Tiger G4, for example, but, for the clit, it’s already better than not soft at all: softness means cushioned friction, and therefore more leeway on the ratio of usage time to the amount of lubricant you need to spread around, to avoid getting irritated.
In short, it’s an effective sex toy. For me, about a minute per orgasm during the first test, without being particularly in the mood.
Conclusion about the Vibro Lapinou
The good points:
- It’s cute and funny. And not ugly.
- For its size, it’s really effective: this rabbit is a powerful rabbit.
- It is made of safe materials (silicone and ABS plastic)
The bad points:
- Non-existent charging port… or rather, one you have to pierce yourself.
I hope it was bad luck, because although it’s not a deal-breaker, in principle it’s a bit cheeky I think. - No storage pouch.
As for looks, you’d want to class it with the vibrating ducks, in order to build a poultry yard of animal-shaped sex toys. But as for effectiveness, the Vibro Lapinou isn’t in the same league. Indeed, unlike its quacking companion, it’s a real vibrator worthy of the name, whereas the other fowl is just a decorative trinket.
If you’re looking for a small clitoral vibrator that doesn’t look like a sex toy, and remains really effective, at a price range that’s not insane, I can only recommend it.
