Discovery of the Extase Sensuel “Intime Elle” gift set

le

The online shop Kisskiss.ch sent us the Extase Sensuel “Intime Elle” set.

(No, I haven’t made a mistake about the brand name. It really is“Extase Sensuel” and not “Extase Sensuelle”.)

This Spanish brand, whose official website is not very comprehensive (it has only one page, with just an image and a contact email), produces lubricants, stimulating gels, massage oils and soft erotic accessories.

The set contains a strawberry-flavoured lubricant, a stimulating gel with a hot-cold effect, an eye mask and scented rose petals.

The lubricant

The lubricant is strawberry-flavoured. Strawberry sweets, basically. Its taste is rather pleasant.

The lubricant

A small gripe about the size of the bottle: only 30 millilitres, which is a bit small, for lube, mind you.

And, above all, a hitch in its ingredients list, written in spider script on the label: some parabens (to be more precise, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, or “methylparaben” in English). A toxic substance, present in many foods and beauty products, admittedly, but it does dampen the appetite a little.

The stimulating gel

It is a hot-cold effect gel. But is it effective? Nothing in the kit indicates what its supposed effects are.

Two hypotheses, potentially cumulative:

1) It might accelerate orgasm.

2) It might increase the intensity of sensations.

The stimulating gel

Hypothesis 1: Does it accelerate orgasm?

We surely aren’t going to start timing orgasms, are we…

Ah, yeah?…

A test is a test, it takes scientific proof (or not). So, for the sake of science, I sacrificed myself.

The experiment : manual clitoral stimulation under identical conditions, once with a standard lubricant (I used the one from the kit) and a second time with the stimulating gel included in the kit. Timing it all. (What perverts, these scientists… But still, it’s always less bad than giving an elephant LSD…).

Equipment :

  • My clitoris: It’s mine. If you want to replicate this experiment at home, you’ll have to find yours yourself. If, despite a thorough search, you can’t lay your hands on it (which can happen; about half of people don’t have one), ask a kind soul to lend you one, or choose another area of your body (no, not the tip of your nose!).
  • The strawberry-flavoured lubricant included in the set: it serves as a “control” for comparing the effects.
  • The stimulating gel included in the set.

Conditions of the experiment : clitoral fingering (mine), solo, by hand. Once with the strawberry lubricant, once with the stimulating gel. With a fairly long pause and a rinse between the two tests, so as not to skew the results. While watching something extremely exciting: an online timer (right, OK, I admit I cheated a little by looking away from time to time, because watching numbers ticking away is quite stressful and disconcerting).

Scientific testing of lubricants

I measured the time between the moment my lubricant-coated finger made contact with my clitoris and the end of the orgasm (with a one-second delay to reach the mouse in order to stop the timer).

Result :

  • Non-stimulating strawberry lubricant: 1 minute 48 seconds. Second attempt (back to back): 1 minute 15 seconds.
  • Stimulating gel: 1 minute 48 seconds… I must have a subscription. I’ll need to remember to check that there’s no curse associated with this number… Second attempt (back to back): 1 minute 10 seconds.

I think we can conclude that no, the stimulating gel has no major influence on the time it takes to reach orgasm.

(Admittedly, for my method to be genuinely science-proof, a larger number of attempts, a greater quantity of product, and a greater variety of test clitorises would have been required… But I do what I can with the resources at hand…)

Hypothesis 2: Does it increase the intensity of the stimulation?

Answer (determined by the same experiment as for Hypothesis 1): Yes. The hot-cold effect increases the intensity of sensations felt throughout the stimulation, and not only at the moment of orgasm.

Be careful, however, to rinse thoroughly after use, as, out of context, the hot-cold effect can irritate and become painful!

Fragrance and composition

The stimulant gel smells of mint. The scent is fairly standard; it comes across more as an aroma than as a subtle, sophisticated fragrance.

It also has a mint flavour, quite well done. It’s honestly good, even, in fact: I’ve just tasted a pinch of it again, just for the pleasure: yum! It is therefore perfectly compatible with oral sex.

I briefly searched Wikipedia for the substances listed in its composition. It is far from being an organic product, but I didn’t come across anything that was listed as being notably dangerous.

The blindfold

It is a long, soft black satin blindfold. At one of its ends, you can read, in golden italic lettering, “The art of love”. At its other end, a capital “A”.

It is a soft, multi-purpose bondage accessory: you can use it to blindfold the eyes, but also to tie the wrists or ankles.

The petals

The petals are made from rose-scented fabric. The box we received contained eleven of them. It certainly doesn’t have the class of fresh flower petals, but they last longer.

Impressions

The presentation

One small gripe about the set itself: the dividers that separate the different products aren’t stiff enough. Its contents shifted during transit. But it wasn’t damaged, and I very easily put everything back in place, without anyone the wiser. (As you can see in the photo, you’d hardly know a little incident had happened. But that’s why the order of the products differs from what you can see in the official photos.)

Another point that slightly bothers me (although it’s not very important), the text that serves as the instructions, printed on the back of the box, is a touch… weird. Among other things, it tells you that the rose petals improve[nt] the chemistry between partners, and stimulates[nt] the senses for the taste and scent of the other person”. They’re pretty, the petals, right, and they smell good. But you can tell the person who wrote this paragraph hasn’t tested the set: unless you think you’re in American Beauty, the petals are far from being the main draw of the set.

Apart from these two points, the set looks good. Its appearance is reminiscent of a perfume box. You can see its contents through the clear plastic before opening it.

A gift that’s easy to give

This set can be given without necessarily knowing exactly what the recipient likes. It’s suitable for couples who want to ease gently into erotic products, but it can also be given to a recent conquest, without the risk of missing the mark or appearing too eager, to show some sensual attention and set up a steamy evening.

You can also give it to a friend without any ambiguity; it is certainly a sexy gift, but not intrusive. But remember that the eye mask isn’t much use for solo play: make sure the future owner of the set has a partner on hand to make the most of their gift.

Conclusion

In the Extase Sensuel “Intime Elle” gift set, we love:

  • The variety of its contents,
  • The pretty, very soft eye mask.

But we’ll find fault with:

  • The parabens in its lubricant.
