Erect nipples would make straight men more altruistic. At least, that’s what a 2020 study by the State University of New York at Oswego seems to show.
The influence of erect nipples on men
The study was carried out in two parts:
Erect nipples influence emotions
In the first part of the study, the researchers show participants photos of women, randomly selected from two almost identical sets, with one small difference: in the first set, the women have erect nipples, but not in the second. The women’s faces are hidden to eliminate the influence of facial expressions.
The participants have to rate the women in the photos, based on a series of 16 emotional and physical criteria. These include positive, negative and sexual emotions.
Men and women tend to perceive positive emotions in women with erect nipples. But only men attribute sexual emotions to them.
Erect nipples influence behaviour
The second part of the study looks at the influence of seeing erect nipples on human behaviour. Does seeing erect nipples make you more altruistic?
To find out, participants were shown photos of women with nipples that were more or less erect and asked whether they would be willing to do the woman in the picture a favour. For example, lend her money, fix her car or give her lessons.
The result: straight men say they’re more willing to help women with erect nipples. Even more so if the help in question involves interacting with them, as if by chance! They also think these women should be included in their social group.
Still, you might wonder whether this altruism that’s not in the least bit disinterested is actually desirable for the woman sporting the nipples. I don’t know about you, but when some bloke turns up offering to help, his eyes fixed on my boobs and a string of drool at his lips, I politely decline, afraid that my new “friend” won’t want to leave me alone once he’s done the favour.
The women who were interviewed, on the other hand, don’t feel any more altruistic towards women with erect nipples, and aren’t particularly keen to include them in their social group.
Fake nipples: an asset for making friends?
Erect nipples can be a sign of arousal, but more often than not, it’s mostly a sign that your tits are cold. And right now, it’s hardly the season for that: it’s getting pretty hot.
However, if your nipples don’t stick out as much as you’d like, but you’re dying to try this “subtle” manipulation experiment on a male guinea pig, so he’ll do you a favour or become your BFF, don’t panic! You can easily get hold of fake nipples.
Yes, but what for? Such prostheses could prove useful for women who have had a breast removed and no longer have nipples.
But these fake nipples seem to be marketed mainly for cross-dressing. And yet, nothing looks more like a nipple than another nipple, whether it’s female, male, non-gendered or intersex. Whatever social media might say.
But perhaps these fake nipples could also make a great sex toy for trimammophiles wanting to get themselves a third tit…
