Dèmonia… What’s that? The girlfriend of Cthulhu ? A hairy death metal band? The sexy but sinisterly kitsch heroine of a video game (-trululu, to keep the “lu” rhymes going)?
Well, no. Dèmonia is a sex shop. You absolutely had no idea, did you? Well, not exactly. Dèmonia is both a sex shop and a fetish accessories and clothing shop, with an S&M focus.
Dèmonia also organises fetish parties, the most notable of which is the Nuit Dèmonia. This one, which takes place once a year, is the largest fetish party in France.
The Dèmonia shop is located in Paris, near the Ménilmontant metro station. But its products are also available via the internet, on , its online store.
On several occasions, we have appreciated its reliability with regard to delivery times. Each time, the shop despatched the items the day after our order, or on the first working day following it. However, some items are shown on the site as not being available for a certain period (generally 2 to 3 weeks), due to stock shortages, I imagine… But since we were eager to receive our order, we carefully avoided these items.
Dèmonia and BDSM accessories
The BDSM accessories, is truly Dèmonia’s strong suit.
You’ll find everything there, from the softest to the hardest, with an impressive range of choices. Prices come in fairly varied ranges, but you can easily get high-quality items at an affordable cost.
The handcuffs (for wrists, for ankles) and other accessories of bondage, the gags, the collars and the leashes, the crops, the paddles and the whips, the nipple clamps, the cockrings and the chastity accessories abound there, in many models.
Many unusual objects, absent or rare in standard shops, are offered. One single caveat: sometimes, you look at an item and you tell yourself “but, how do you use this thing?” So, you read its description to find out… And you learn the precise dimensions of the item from all its angles, but you’re not much better off regarding its mode of use.
The clothing
If you’re looking for a sexy and romantic set for a sweet night of love on a bed of rose petals… don’t head to Dèmonia! Dèmonia rarely ventures into the realm of “classic” lingerie (apart from a nice collection of stockings), you won’t find printed shorties or push-up bras there.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for a fetish garment, whether it’s in lace, in mesh, in vinyl, in latex, in plastic, in leather or in fabric, fairly classic or from an obscure corner of your imagination, Dèmonia probably has it. There’s something for every taste, from the maid’s dress to the zentai suit (for those who don’t know, these are very stretchy fabric suits that cover the body from head to toe) passing through the most classic corset.
Sex toys
When it comes to sex toys, Dèmonia doesn’t have exactly the same range as a typical sex shop. Unfortunately, vibrators are rather neglected there. You can find the Fairy, the vibrating duck, the Fun Factory dolphin in mini version, a few rabbits, a vibrating lipstick and a few lesser-known models.
(As a side note, I advise against vibrating lipsticks… A long time ago, I bought one in a shop in town. Verdict: made of hard plastic with extremely feeble vibrations, this sex toy has an amusing design, but is remarkably ineffective, even unpleasant.)
As for dildos and plugs, on the other hand, there is an embarrassment of choice. You will also notice a substantial inventory of strap-on belts.
Dèmonia’s parties
The Nuit Dèmonia is a major fetish party which takes place once a year in Paris, at legendary venues:
- Nuit Dèmonia 2010 (9 December) : La Machine du Moulin Rouge (Montmartre)
- Nuit Dèmonia 2011 (15 October) : Le Petit Domaine (Bois de Vincennes)
- Nuit Dèmonia 2012 (16 June) : Les Crayères des Montquartiers
Every month, Dèmonia also organises “Nuits élastiques”, vinyl-themed parties, and “croisières élastiques”, in the same spirit, but on a barge drifting along the Seine.
We have not (yet) had the chance to attend one of these parties. But the videos of the Dèmonia nights show an atmosphere that seems completely wild.
Shows and performances help liven up the evening. A fetish dress code is a must. In practice, this means that all participants are dressed in vinyl, latex, plastic or leather… And many of them are wearing outfits that are even more unusual! (At least, the ones who were filmed – I imagine they’re the ones with the best outfits…)
Maybe one day we’ll go there…
