Jopen Comet Wand review

le

The Jopen Comet Wand is a G-spot dildo that looks like a big sweet, made of glass partially covered in pastel silicone.

When someone says “Jopen” to me, I immediately think of the Intensity, that electro-stimulation sex toy that seems perched somewhere between a rabbit and a curling iron. But fortunately, the Jopen brand, a subsidiary of California Exotics, has not just one single item to its name.

I’d been keeping an eye on the upcoming release of the Key range for quite a while. Its little metallic logo smelled of class. So I tried to see if a review might be feasible.

We recently had the surprise (and great pleasure) of receiving three Jopen Key sex toys: the Comet Wand, the Nyx Mini Massager and the Charms Petite Massager Silk.

I’ll therefore start with my favourite, the Comet Wand. Let me show you the thing.

Packaging

The box

The box that contains the Comet Wand is made of cardboard, perfectly presentable.

It seems likely to stay in good condition for quite a while, provided you’re relatively careful with your sex toy packaging; in short, I would still call it disposable.

The case

A storage case is included. Thin, a bit rough, it’s not the best case in the world, but well, it’ll do.

One might think that’s the least they could do, but no, not all brands do, far from it. So even if it’s not of breathtaking quality, I still appreciate its presence. It won’t protect the sex toy from impacts. But that’s enough to store it neatly, discreetly, and alongside other sex toys without it coming into contact with them.

The sex toy

Appearance

With its pastel hue, transparent handle and curvy shape, the Comet Wand seems almost straight out of Willy Wonka’s factory. You’d think it was a big sweet.

Its finish is neat down to the details, with no noticeable imperfections on the silicone surface or in the glass, and a small metallic cylinder bearing the Key range logo is embedded in its handle.

A small gap is visible at the joint between the two parts, but I didn’t notice it during use.

The sex toy measures about 20 centimetres long in total if you measure from one end to the other in a straight line (24 cm if you take its curvature into account). Its insertable part is 13 cm long. The ball at its end has a diameter of 3.5 cm, while the rest of its handle is thinner.

Texture and materials

The handle of the Comet Wand is made of glass, while the insertable part is coated in a thick layer of pure silicone, whose surface is matte, soft to the touch and doesn’t attract dust. It’s a bit the same kind of pleasant texture as the one that covers certain LELO sex toys such as the IRIS, the INA or the Smart Wands.

The whole thing is therefore made of materials safe for the body, non-porous and odourless… and soft!

The whole thing is rigid, and weighs a considerable amount for its size. Around 250 grams, I’m told, but I don’t have a scale precise enough to check. Which, in passing, is pleasant rather than annoying.

The joint between the silicone and the glass will require a little more attention when cleaning than the rest of the sex toy. But nothing dramatic, since you can happily soak it in water and rub it with soap.

Use

Well, given its shape, it can also come in handy for massaging your back, but otherwise the Comet Wand is only made for vaginal penetration. You could have guessed as much.

Handling

You handle the device by firmly gripping the rounded end of the Comet Wand’s handle.

A slightly longer handle might have made handling easier. But since I didn’t encounter any particular difficulty controlling the movement of the Comet Wand, I don’t think that detail is really important. At least, to my taste.

Vaginal use

The Comet Wand is inserted in such a way that its spherical end is oriented forward, towards the navel.

The ball at the end of the Comet Wand, although soft, doesn’t slide in on its own. Unlike the rounded end of the Nobessence Fling, for example, or a smooth sex toy made entirely of glass. And, without being gigantic, it’s still rather wide.

As far as I’m concerned, without prior lubrication, it was impossible to get it into my twat. So I didn’t skimp on lube each time I used it, and I often added an extra dose along the way.

Another notable difference from a glass sex toy: the silicone on the insertable part tends to stay fairly lukewarm; its temperature doesn’t vary drastically when in contact with hot or cold water.

To stimulate the G-spot properly, you don’t use a back-and-forth movement with the Comet Wand, as with a “classic” dildo.

You make it sway back and forth instead, tilting its handle slightly. As the heaviest part of the sex toy, it acts as a counterweight to the insertable part. It thus maintains a certain balance, minimising the physical effort of the wrist required to keep up the pace.

The Comet Wand’s handle

That’s not to say I’d call it a sex toy for lazy people, far from it.

Admittedly, you can simply hold it still, pressed against the “G-spot”, while using a vibrator on the clit. The sensation is pleasant and allows you to reach orgasm quite quickly.

But I find it clearly more effective with a little effort to make it sway and gently strike the G-spot in a regular and rapid manner, varying its tilt vertically. But not laterally, otherwise the sensation becomes unpleasant. The stimulation is then much more intense, and so are the orgasms.

Conclusion

objetsdeplaisir-test-jopen-key-34Good points:

  • Pairing glass and silicone, two cool materials for the body, was a good idea. The silicone for its texture, the glass for its weight, the lot for its aesthetics.
  • Its very pronounced curve allows it to reliably catch the “G-spot”.
  • Visually, I find it original and pretty. A little candy / magic wand side, but without descending into cheap design. You’re dealing with quality gear and a very proper finish, and it looks quite good.

Bad points:

  • A slightly more elaborate storage accessory, and above all, padded, to protect the glass part from impacts would have been welcome.

The Comet Wand starts from a good idea, and the result is really successful. It’s an effective sex toy, formidable for the G-spot, original and pleasant to look at. For me, it’s an excellent non-vibrating sex toy, which I recommend without hesitation.
