The woodworker who makes the sex toys Idée du Désir has also created a wooden anal plug.
I’ve already talked to you about the wooden sex toys from this French artisanal brand. I’ve interviewed their creator, and then we tested theOrchidée, a beautiful walnut dildo, with a soft but textured surface.
He was kind enough to send us this sex toy at the same time as theOrchidée Twins, which I’ll be telling you about very soon.
This adorable little plug, carved from a single block of walnut, has a proud, impressive appearance, and its shape seemed interesting… So I was keen to try it.

Packaging
There is no packaging to speak of, as it’s an artisanal object, but the parcel is well packed.
A small satin storage case is included. It protects the sex toy from scratches, without occupying too much space. It is perfect for keeping the plug at home.
If there is a risk of impact during transport, it may be advisable to cushion it a little more, for example with cotton.
The sex toy
Appearance and dimensions
When we received the Idée du Désir plug, we were surprised by its weight. It is light as a feather! And for good reason: the structure of the object is particularly fine and delicate.
The plug is 10 centimetres long, with an insertable part of 8 cm. It is larger than our Njoy Pure Plug Small size, but it remains a perfectly reasonable size.
Its shape evokes a sort of seed on which two leaves had started to grow. The “seed” part is 6 cm long and 3 cm in diameter. There is then a thin stem, positioned at the entrance of the anus when the plug is worn. The “leaves” part protrudes from the anus, preventing any risk of getting stuck.
Texture and materials
The Idée du Désir plug is made of walnut, a dark and solid wood widely used in cabinetmaking. On the surface of the sex toy, you can admire intricate and unique patterns, resulting from the wood grain.
Idée du Désir has made changes to the finish of its creations since our review of the Orchidée. It is still a food-safe varnish, therefore no risk to the body, but the finish is glossier. The wood is perfectly smooth and soft, without any roughness.
Caring for the wooden anal plug
A sheet detailing, among other things, how to care for the item, is enclosed with the sex toy.
Nothing particularly complicated:
- For cleaning, simply wash it with water and soap (or shower gel), rinse thoroughly, and leave to air dry.
- If it gets knocked or dropped on the floor, make sure the sex toy has no chips in its varnish and no cracks.
- Store the plug away from light.
- Do not expose it to temperatures above 60°.
- Never use solvent-based products, which could damage the varnish (but at the same time, who on earth can clean their sex toys with ???).
Usage
Insertion
The Idée du Désir anal plug is rigid, and particularly smooth: all it takes is a small amount of lubricant to get it in.
In theory, any type of sexual lubricant is compatible. On various occasions, I used Nexus Slide (water-based) or Pjur Back Door (silicone-based) and I experienced no problems.
Wearing the anal plug
Once in place, the Idée du Désir wooden anal plug doesn’t move. Its handle, which stays outside the anus, between the cheeks, keeps it firmly in place.
It’s comfortable to wear: you can feel the plug’s presence, but it’s pleasantly stimulating. There’s no discomfort in any position—sitting, standing, or on all fours—and no difficulty whatsoever when walking.
Under clothes
Under clothes, whether under a skirt or trousers, the plug is completely discreet. You can’t tell its shape: visually, there’s absolutely nothing to notice.
In this situation too, the plug remains completely comfortable. Its presence is constantly felt, gently but pleasantly.
During penetration
I tried wearing the Idée du Désir plug during vaginal penetration. To do so, I had to angle it slightly to the side, so that its slightly long handle wouldn’t get in the way.
Once the plug was angled, penetration could take place without any problems. The plug puts pressure on the wall between the anus and the vagina, reducing the space available for the penis and forcing it to press harder on the G-spot. The resulting double stimulation is pleasant and intense.
Conclusion on the Idée du Désir wooden anal plug
The good points:
- The Idée du Désir plug is made of wood, a refined and durable material (which in itself is already original).
- It’s particularly beautiful, and its finish is carefully crafted down to the finest details.
- Each model is unique and made in France by a passionate artisan. It’s nothing like a sex toy straight out of a factory. It’s an object with a soul.
- It’s an effective plug that perfectly fulfils its role as a plug. It’s comfortable to wear and provides very pleasant stimulation, it stays securely in place, and it knows how to stay discreet.
The bad points:
- Maybe a handle a micro-micro-tiny bit shorter would be more suitable for wearing during vaginal penetration?
The Idée du Désir wooden anal plug is really lovely.
It is at once attractive, original and effective. And, as the icing on the cake, its price is entirely reasonable: 59 euros for a quality handcrafted sex toy. If you’re looking for a good anal plug, I strongly recommend it.
